I hear ya'. For me 20 years ago a box and amp was a must have...now....just enough to have everything well balanced.

I unexpectedly got the hideaway today but I need to wait to get the speakers in. I did do a fit test and it won't fit under the passenger seat, there's too much going on down there with cables and such. It does fit under the driver's seat. However, I have Clazzios on and the fit for me is too tight for comfort, the bottom of the Clazzios gets pulled when I slide the seat all the way forward. I could figure something out but the fact that the heater vent is there also concerns me. I don't want it blowing hot air straight onto the sub in the winter time.

I believe I'm going to place it behind the rear seat on the driver side since it's the smaller cubby hole of the two back behind the seats.

I'll post once I install it. I'm not opposed to returning it if it does not do well or make a difference.

    Mall landscaping pin stripes.
I have the Entune Premium - 6.1" screen, Scout GPS app., I run the tweets off the factory HU, I stole the four pin plug off the factort tweeters to keep everything plug and play. The HS-8 is T'd in at the head unit for signal once again to keep it all plug and play. I didn't want to cut this truck up like I have every vehicle I have had for the last ten years.

Out driving today and found myself trying to convince myself I needed more low end. I don't. I seriously rarely was even listening to music anymore with the stock speakers... No doubt folks can spend several hundred dollars more for something higher end but damn I still can't believe what a massive leap $200 gets us in these trucks! Excited for you guys!

Looking forward to it...honestly, my $29 BT Oontz Angle has better sound quality than my Tacoma...really looking forward to this $220 upgrade if it's just 1/2 as good as you claim.

Appreciate the info here! Told the wife about it and she said "buy everything now before I change my mind". Everything on order! Ordered the speakers from Crutchfield before the sale ended! Ordered the Subaru tweeters off ebay and the Noico sound deadening mat from Amazon.

I ordered the tweeters, front and back speakers. Thanks for all the info.
One question that the Crutchfield site asks is non-JBL system 6" or 7" LCD?
I buying for a 2017 TRD OffRoad DBL cab with the non-JBL TEC PACKAGE.

I am chiming in late here but we keep referring to these as Subaru speakers so are these just plug in play speakers that come in a Subaru that will also plug and play into our Tacos? If so, it makes me wonder why the heck their speakers are so much better! I need some better sound and want it to be plug in play (all I am capable of when it comes to stereos). Thanks.

All good - Subaru stock speakers suck as well, but the upgrade kit they offer for the tweeters happens to share the same size, mount, adapter as the tweeters in our trucks. The rest of those Kicker speakers are not exactly plug and play but damn close... no wiring mess just plug in adapters and mount the speakers.

Yes, it is incredible that the plug on the Tweeters is exactly the same as our Trucks and they sound much better. From start to finish I think I spent a total of 45 Minutes doing the swap and that includes walking down to the garage to get my tools and put them away.

Bah! I can't believe the price difference between Crutchfield.com and Crutchfield.ca. 134.98 (about 165.00 in Canadian dollars) on Crutchfield.com and On Crutchfield.ca it's 319.98! Ridiculous, tried placing the order via Crutchfield.com and they won't shit to Canada.

I did order the Tweeters though.

I did the all Kicker CS and Subi tweeter upgrades back in July (EASY tweeter upgrade post #112) on my entune premium. I LOVE this setup and it makes my Nissan with Bose sound like a little portable radio. ONLY 1 MAJOR PROBLEM. Mirror distortion. The bass vibrates my doors so bad I get the double vision effect on my side view mirrors. But seriously this is the best thing you can do for your radio. Crystal clear highs and teeth chattering bass without a need to max out the volume. It proves that there is nothing wrong with the stock entune premium head unit. The stock speakers are terrible and the magnets are so small that they can't even hold a post-it note on the refrigerator door. I just never thought that the speaker upgrades alone would be the final mod for the sound system. Prior to installing I had just assumed I would eventually need an amp or sub. Nope. This is all I needed. Sound system is complete. Time to put amp/sub money towards something else.
