Yes sir. I disconnected the oem tweeter at the harness, cut the wire in the middle of harness and tweeter, and added the new tweeter to harness. The oem tweeter is labeled positive and neg and so is the prime. I didn't heat shrink I just used a standard butt connector. The only real pain is the adapter. Might be better to buy them.

 

Damn, I want to purchase the door speakers so bad but I’m hearing horror stories about taking the cable out and being locked out.

 

You don't need to remove the door panel completely. Some people just leave the cables connected and let the panel "hang" or hold it up out of the way with a rope etc., while installing the speakers.

 

lol, it's not really a problem.

When you put the door panel back on, just make sure you REMEMBER to attach those cables first. Even if you do put the panel back on without the cables connected, you can still take the panel back off without any problems.

This is only a problem if you put the door panel back on and THEN close the door while it's locked. Yes it happens, but it's super rare (but it is a big problem once it happens lol).

Just make sure you take the time to double check each door before you close it.

 

@ToyoDrew So the only issue is closing the door if it’s LOCKED then. If it’s OPEN and close the door it shouldn’t be s problem then? Thx!

Before you shut your door, just test the handle and make sure it engages/disengages

Also, other than Noico, what are some other options for sound deadening? Looking to do doors, rear wall, rear floor around cargo area, and roof. I have used dynamat and Second Skin audio. Considering using Fat Mat for price and thickness.

 

I have seen dudes rip out the carpet and pull out the headliner and mat the whole car. I don't know how you grade heavy tar that you slap everywhere. I would go for the cheap option if you are going to do it... but please don't go through all that for these speakers.

For me if it doesn't sound good enough I get more power or better speakers and slap some tar on shit if it starts rattling.

 

I was planning on doing it before I even heard of these speakers, lol. I did it on my second gen to reduce road noise, and make the stereo/sub sound better. I'm not pulling out any seats except for the rear.

 

No I bought infinity kappas for front and a set of JLs for the rear.

 

I can see road noise being worth the effort if it improves your driving experience. But you can also crank it and listen to your fire tunes and not the road.
