Now this one has the melted “posts” fusing the “cover piece” I forget what we are calling it in place. The piece you remove for the radar and the other glass cover.

 

It's the same.

 

Either the mods you have added are adding interference/decreasing reception, or the antenna isn't connected well. I've never removed my radio and reinstalled it several times.

 

Every time my radio is being defiant, I let it know who the boss is.

 

Garnish. I believe the piece that goes into that area is the garnish for the new Toyota Safety Sensor.

 

Just did the tweeters ($85 shipped, eBay) and was pleasantly surprised at the clarity difference! Definitely worth every penny.
Now to wait for the CS series to go back on sale at Crutchfield!

Do you have an amp besides the Headunit? I just installed the tweeters and the front speakers and I see what you mean by not noticing a big improvement. I'm having an amp and compact sub put in tomorrow, so I think the quality will be a lot better with an amp.

 

Just completed this today- 4 speakers and the 2 tweeters.
Definitely a big improvement at the medium to higher volumes.

 

These speakers seem to break in well over a long period for sure... now 8 months or so later and they still sound terrific in every way to me and I generally don't turn it up over 2/3 volume MOST of the time. My speakers are definitely louder than the stock ones

In any case, so happy to see folks continuing to rip those paper weights out of the doors to put something that sounds better for not a lot of cash!

 

I'm selling a line out converter (audiocontrol Lc2i), that I used to run a sub on my factory 2nd gen HU. Figured maybe some of the 3rd gen guys doing this upgrade and wanting to add a sub too might be interested.

Replaced my door speakers too now...junk stock ones man those were serious crap.

They work great. Same Metra adapters and such as the Kicker's but Amazon didn't have them when I ordered and needed to use gift cards.

 

Will this setup work on my 2018 off road ?

It should, the 2017's did.

 

It would say it on your head unit and the front door speaker panels. You'd also have a sunroof and leather seats.

 

The exact setup I was just shopping on Crutchfield. Are you using the stock HU? Seems like even if it's only slightly better than stock it'd still be worth the $100.

 

Yes stock 7" unit. It sounds great!

 

I just finished installing a kicker hideaway powered sub to the Subaru tweeter and Kicker CS speaker upgrade in my access cab. In the same way that the tweeters were a great upgrade and the CS (or whatever your personal choice) were another huge leap forward and the hideaway is another huge leap. It still keeps to the best bang for the small budget theme of this thread. Anything more than this combination and I think you need to step up to a big dollar system. For those feeling a bit more bass would fill things in then the hideaway or comparable is the way to go.

I found a few songs just didn’t punch whereas with the Hideaway it comes alive. My audio upgrades are complete now.
