I just ordered the four 6.5” speakers and a set of Kicker tweeters from Crutchfield for $145 for my 2013.

I have a blown front door speaker, so I’m glad I stumbled across this thread.

I’m going to research what’s involved installing that hideaway sub now. I’ll probably order that as well.

    EDIT:

I ordered the sub. I’ll figure it out once it arrives.

Put some audiofrog gs690’s and I must say it’s an awesome upgrade so far. Can’t wait to finish installing everything else.

Thanks, bshammer0 ! completed the tweeters last week and did the front doors today. Made it an all day project an still got finished a little early. I went to the trouble to completely line the inside of the door skins, yep I'm that guy (details, details, details) before I started I gave the door skin the old knuckle test. They sounded like an empty beer can. When I finished they just go THUD. Its like knocking on quarter inch plate steel. With only doing the front doors so far the road noise is reduced drastically. Ill do the back xcab doors next weekend and install the speakers. It is overwhelmingly worth it to take the time to do the inside and outside of the doors. Of Special Note: when you line the inside of the door stop the material an inch from the door bottom or you will block the water and moisture drain slots in the bottom of the door skin and your doors will rust out. The sound system is vastly improved.

Definitely seems sketchy to me. They are for sure NOT an authorized retailer so you’d have zero warranty through kicker. Worth it to just get it from somewhere legit. Best Buy normally keeps it in stock and will price match any legit offers (crutchfield, shipped/sold by Amazon)

Do you know the part number for the white clips on the front doors?

Also do you know the part number for this one.

Sorry for the late response. I installed it under the passenger seat. I took out a bar that runs across the length of the seat to make room for it. I also repositioned some of the wiring harnesses that are attached to the bottom of the seat itself. It was fairly easy.

Sorry if this has been answered, but is there a post on this site about doing the same thing on a 2nd gen truck? (2015 dblcab)

    Thank you,

All info should be the same except instead of doing the Subaru tweeters and kicker CS 6x9 3 ways that most are doing, you would get one set of the kicker CS 6x9 components (separate woofer and tweeter)

Good sale on them right now
    https://www.bestbuy.com/site/kicker...lene-cones-pair-black/5710901.p?skuId=5710901

You have it a bit easier since your tweeter is in the door and not the dash

All wiring, rear speakers, sub, amp, etc will remain the same

For reference, I’m a 30 year old dude and listen to rap/hip-hop half of the time, metalcore the other half of the time, and occasionally country. I did the tweeters first and wanted more depth. Did the Kickers in all four doors and it sounded good but still not quite enough low end. Added the Hideaway and it’s perfect for my tastes. I do occasionally wish that I could crank the bass up some more, but that’s only on certain songs and when I’m in the mood. The Hideaway’s sounds is sharp and crisp; nice right punch. Definitely not the booming bass that you get from a regular box, but impressive nonetheless.

UGH. I wish I didn't read this. I did my driver's side door a little, maybe 30%. I love the idea of the reduced road noise but I have been away too much to get into it. I just scrambled to get the rear speakers in tonight before heading out again tomorrow. I'm going to be itching to get the doors done up for a few more weeks...

Thanks bshammer for the original guidance! I might be crazy but I think I already enjoy this more than the OVTune upgrade. And I enjoy that quite a bit.

Also on my list is to quiet down my prinsu rack based on another one of your posts. It's actually pretty quiet as is, but why not tinker? Better than rotting in front of a TV.

In my experience, it works best to only try 1 door at a time. You'll go crazy if you try to do the whole truck non-stop. Doing one door per day/week/whatever length of time will ensure you don't get burnt out. I've gotten sick of it on some cars and my work suffered

X2. I started with rear doors first, one at a time. I’m still running stock speakers but am getting ready to noico the fronts, replace the front speakers, then throw in the rear speakers already wired up with Taco tunes wiring kit.

With just the door speakers it sounds much better than stock overall. Adding the tweeters provided a much more crisp sound, but I noticed that having higher highs, made the lack of base more apparent. I took advantage of the recent Ebay sale and got a refurb Kicker Hideaway for $125 shipped. I just got it in the mail this morning, now I have to decide where I'm gonna mount it.

Thanks for the info. I threw the tweeters in first and noticed a pretty big difference, was hoping the doors crisped things up as well. I have seen some people put the hideaway under either one of the front seats.
