If you have the JBL system, take a big step back because the parts and steps to take are very different from the non-jbl system outlined in this thread.

    1) you don't need the tweeter harness.
    2) what are you replacing the head unit with? that will determine the next few things
    3) if you're getting the new version of the toyota radio that hopefully has CarPlay., you need the PAC AmpPro
    4) If you're getting any aftermarket radio, you need a 6ch set of RCA cables and a 5ch amp or a 4ch and 1ch amp.
    5) As far as swapping just the tweeters for now, all the JBL stuff is 2ohm and the Kicker stuff you got is 4ohm. You "can" swap the tweeters out but you will lose half the power they're getting from the JBL amp. This will be fixed once a new amp is installed.
    6) I would install the crossover included with the kicker speakers because the JBL tweeter is actually a 3.5" and gets way lower frequencies than the Kicker tweeter should get.
    7) your crossovers actually needs to go back at the JBL amp location because that's where you can easily access all the factory wiring. This is also where the door speaker wires go, so once you replace the mids in the doors, you can take those wires (currently in the JBL amp) and connect them to the crossovers as well. that will keep everything neat and tidy and in once place.
    8) you can use that pioneer sub. i would stuff as much poly-fill in that enclosure as you can. maybe even put some sound deadening material on the outside. this will help cut down the plastic resonance sound you get from a more powerful sub in that enclosure.

I'm probably missing something, but that's a good start

So I did this upgrade but used Kicker DS series instead. Much cleaner sound, not more bass but tighter, cleaner. Much improved highs. I might go back and seal everything better with some foam and a little sound deadening, that should deepen the bass a little. Very pleased with the upgrade. I was debating adding a sub but don’t find it necessary now.

    @bshammer0
I just finished my install today as well. To the OP, thanks so much - so much better than the stock speakers. I too, am amazed at how well, considering how flimsy and light the factory speakers are, played.
Your "kit" is so much better.
I also agree with @eMKay I want more bass. I see a sub in the future - which requires a whole new set of searches.

Still reading thru this thread, but did you end up making a T harness? I’m about to buy a Alpine power pack and would be interested in one.

Unfortunately Kicker doesn’t make extra harnesses so I wasn’t able to pre-build any. Still open to people sending me their harness and I’ll build it and send it back.

How about attempting this mode with a pair of good aftermarket tweeters like I did with a set of Bose.

I installed the tweeters into my '17 TRD OR and it is everything this thread says it is. At ~$100 for a $32,000+ truck, I can't believe Toyota doesn't include something of similar quality.

You want good factory audio? Buy a Lexus or a Rover!

In all seriousness, even the “premium” jbl system is trash for the multi-thousand dollar price tag it’s adds on

Driveshaft disconnect to be flat towed behind our RV.
Just swapped in the kicker Subaru tweeters, CS front and rears, and sound deadened all 4 doors.

Love the improvement!! Though my hands and arms look like I was attacked by a cat.

I did the Subaru tweeters and Kicker KS series in the doors about a month ago and it sounded great. Added a JL audio Stealth box and Kenwood 801 yesterday, phenomenal!

I went through 50 some pages looking for my answer so apologies if it's in here but is this swap compatible with a JBL system the same way it is with a non-JBL system? Thanks!

Wiring mostly. The jbl system uses different tweeters and door speakers, with different connectors.
