Anybody scavenge the original tweeter to mount an after market tweeter inside without buying the adapter bracket?

I have done this in several Toyota’s. Very easy if you have some tin snips. They eat right through the metal basket. I’m sure a cut off wheel or a Dremel would work too

Hopefully going in next week, decided last minute to add the kicker key as well.

These a-pillars have been beyond annoying. One of the bolts dropped and has a new forever home, and the top cover for the passenger handle refuses to click back in.

This wasn’t supposed to be annoying.

Instilling. My girl comes home with her friends from yoga and she sees the bolt immediately :anonymous:

I did the Kicker upgrade a while back and finally decided to add an aftermarket amp today and damn did they come alive. IMO the Kickers were way underpowered running on the factory deck. Now they sound what they should sound. I ended up going with a Infinity K5 amp. It’s on sale for $250.

so big question here. Budget/value wise looking to eventually go in the direction of an amp for doors, and amp and sub. Would it be better to get 2 separate amps or get a five channel to do doors and sub.

Also need suggestions for the above combo. I have had systems at 146db, I don’t need anything near that craziness I am to old for that now. But I would like nice well rounded accurate bass to go with the upgrade I put in the doors. For reference I put in infinity reference component 6x9s in the front and 6.5 coaxials in the back. @destin_meeks

I think it's a wash either way. I went with Kicker Key 180.4 (not installed yet) and a separate Mono amp for my sub because of the Key's built in DSP and because I didn't have the funds to do the door speakers, sub, and amp at the same time. If you go with a 5 channel make sure the mono channel has enough power for the sub you want to run.

Small update. Finally got all the doors and tweeters done. I am glad I went with the infinity reference components. Everything sounds so clear and crisp. The tweeters sounds fantastic. Even on the stock headunit this particular set plays decently loud. I believe it is due to the sensitivity.

Is the upgrade really that noticeable? Did the 19 get an audio upgrade? Just bought a 19 OR and the audio seems fine to me. I came from a WRX with the Harmon Kardon upgrade. Maybe because I’m not an audiophile, plus my hearing sucks (I blame the Army lol).

If the audio seems fine to you, no point replacing anything. Money in the pocket!

IMO: The tweeter swap is a noticeable upgrade. The door speakers swap is an upgrade, but probably not that noticeable without adding an amp. I have replaced all 6 speakers and am happy with the results. I have not yet decided if I'm going to add the amp.

I came from a 2015 WRX with the same speakers but an even worse head unit, but you wouldn’t tell the difference in that car because it’s built to ride and sound like a go kart. Putting the same tweeters in the truck made a nice difference for <$100.

Mirrors how I feel about the door speakers. If and when I do them, I’ll be getting a small amp to power them.
