I've read that 25 sq ft is more than enough. I did not use it on my doors. When I took off my door panels, there was already some sort of foam pad material in there, so I left it alone. I have a 2018.

 

Dang man. How did that affect the weight of the door?

 

Feels more solid. When closing it feels like a solid door instead of a coke can

 

I went with Noico. Worked well...can't tell any difference from the Dynamat speaker kit in my previous vehicle.

Got my speakers in. Was hoping id find the areas my rattle was coming from when the bass hit. but no luck, anyone know trouble spots in the doors for rattles?

 

It’s basically a membership we started doing last summer. $200 gets you a year. Pretty much all car stereo services are covered, most things at the geek squad counter are covered, and most in-home services are $50 (tv mounting, WiFi setup, etc)
You can definitely save a ton of money if you plan on doing a full car stereo. Or if you find yourself at the front counter with computer needs more than once a year

ehh, it gets you a 20% discount on that, but it's not free.
The basics are free (radios, speakers, amps, most remote starts, backup cams) but moire intricate and time consuming stuff like sound deadening is considered "custom labor" which gets a 20% discount.

Yeah, I get why they did it that way though. Sound deadening takes a lot of time. I typically average 45min per door, and another 2+ hours in a trunk. so 5+ hours of labor in a standard car, but that only uses +/-$150 in product, IF you use our stuff. Just too much time and not enough money.

 

If you had a legit 50 watts RMS per channel, would you opt for CS or KS level Kicker speakers?

 

KS for sure. The CS are way too harsh at high volumes. I’m running the KS and they’re great for the price. Very smooth highs and good mids

 

Hmm. I have the PowerBass drop-in Toyota replacement speakers installed at the moment...they sound pretty solid, but are easily overpowered by the Kicker 5-channel. Thinking the CS/KS speakers would be a better alternative... pondering 6.5" in lieu of 6x9" for the front now that I have a sub going in.

 

Yeah I’m running the 6.75” components up front and 6.75” coaxials in the back. Run off the kxa800.5 amp

 

I just got around to installing the front and rear door speakers. (Installed ths Subaru tweeters months ago). I did one side at a time and compared the sound with the balance and fade of the headunit.. Does the sound get that much better when they get broken in? I actually reinstalled the front door speakers bc I lost so much bass after changing to the CS kickers. Is this normal? I left the rear door speakers in bc those didn't seem to effect the bass output(gained some clarity with those). I'm not looking for so much bass it shakes panels but I just enjoy more than just clear highs and mids.

I guess I just figured I wouldn't lose any bass but gain more crisp highs and mids with the kicker CS's

Should I stick the new kickers back in and let them break in some more?

 

You'll need an amplifier if you want the same loudness/level of bass. Otherwise, the bass will only be *cleaner*.

 

I guess I'll just stick with the stock front door speakers and kicker tweeters/rear kicker CS door speakers until I decide if I want to redo the whole sound system.
