Ah. OK. I was going to put some sound deadening, but the temperature was a bit warm so the glue was a gooey mess. I'll reattach it once I'm done. I do live in a rainy climate so it might be more important for me. Thanks!!

Yep, plastic is a moisture barrier. There is a TON of water that gets in your doors, and you don’t want that getting on the plastic or into the cab. The foam stuff is good for both blocking outside noise and a bit or instigation as well.

Lol. I went through the same thing. Ordered online and didn't install until a couple weeks later. Luckily I was on the borderline of their return/exchange window and was able to exchange it in-store.

I've been thinking about adding an amp for my speakers. I want to keep the stock headunit (for now)...what all will I need to make this happen? I already have an amp and sub running off of it but I"m not sure how doing the speakers works. Does anybody have links to what I will need to make that happen?

Has anyone with an amp moved on from the OP CS speakers to a 2-way ks line?

    Thoughts?/Reviews?

Interested to hear what you thought compared to the OP CS speakers.

    KS blow the CS away

The CS are great for this thread before the Key and power pack and such got added in. They’re sensitive so they still play loud with minimal power. But the titanium tweeters make them harsh to most people’s ears once you actually give them some juice. They’re still good for the price (I mean, they’re marketed as entry level speakers and perform like entry level speakers) but if you want it more refined, more smooth, and less ear fatigue at higher volumes, the KS are a great way to go. I’m running the 6.75” components up front and 6.75” coaxials in the rear, on 50w RMS. They will still get louder than my ears can handle, and stay very clean as long as your amp gains are set right (distortion typically comes from the amp, not the speakers)

Thanks. The specs show them both. 6x9 vs 6x9 having the same sensitivity. Is this correct?

It's very possible. Those titanium-dome tweeters just make them seem so much louder than silk-dome. My ears can't take it for more than a few minutes.

Thanks. I'm thinking about just doing a straight swap. If the sensitivity is the same would you expect me need to adjust gain or filters on my amp?

I believe the KS handle mid-bass a little better but just see how it sounds to you. I wouldn't start changing settings just for the hell of it lol. You may notice your highs aren't as loud, so listen for that and see if it needs tweaking. same with mids.

I ended up picking up a set of 6x9 coax ks speakers. They really do help calm the CS down a bit in the highs and mids. Also helps a bunch with ear/sound fatigue

You're selling the old CS speakers? I might take them off your hands if that's the case...

Great thread, after reading about the lack of audio quality from the Kicker CS I decided to go with JL 6x9, couldnt have done it without the help of this thread!
