Depends on what I'm listening to honestly, but generally I have treble one notch right of center, mid another notch or 2 right of treble, and bass one or 2 notches to the left of max. If it's something REALLY bass heavy, I'll lower the bass a bit to align with my mids which are almost always a bit higher than treble.

I've been leaving it flat but will have to try your settings. Usually listen to Christian contemporary/rock. :)

Congrats...if it's your first, get ready, the world will never be the same....in mostly good ways. :D

You got me so amped up (no pun intended) for this install that you got me thinking about our 2016 Honda Odyssey's sound system that sucks nearly as bad as the Tacoma's. Turns out that a straight P&P speaker swap on 4 of it's 7 speakers can make a BIG difference too, so after a 5 minute chat with Crutchfield, and them specing some nice little Infinities that are on sale and I'm $110 lighter in the wallet and those are on the way...thanks...thanks alot!

Good to hear - hopefully the Odyssey's HU is decent enough like the Taco's to push some power to some after-market speakers as well! The folks at Crutchfield are money - so much crappy service everywhere these days it seems (e-hem.... Toyota, are you listening!?). The couple of times I called them they were bending over backwards to help me save money and get all set up. Icing on the cake was puncturing one of my rears, being honest about it and then sending out a new set same day...

Yes, is our first baby. We have a lot of family close-by and have helped raise nieces and nephews from infancy so we're not completely out of the loop on what mostly means ;) And, we're older and are likely going to be a one-kid family so are unlikely to face the challenge family members have had of having a baby and a toddler in diapers at the same time. Man, I feel for that in a big way! But yes, we are excited. Funny enough, I started this thread after being up all night when we had a scare in the hospital last week and thought the baby (and my wife) were headed into dangerous territory. I couldn't sleep, but my wife finally rested a bit and I figured "someone needs to do a write up so folks can get in on the goodness w/ these speakers" and here it is. Ha.

Good luck w/ the speaker installs

We got married and for 2 years we lived within 10 miles 2 sets of grandparents and two separate aunts who would have KILLED to babysit. We decided to move 600 miles away to a new city expecting to have a couple years to check out the local night life and then MAYBE have 1 child. The week after we get there we find out she is 3 weeks pregnant. We were 35. New Baby and no real help. DOH! Had a bit of a scare with her too, she was 6 weeks early, but all was good. We had pretty much decided we were good with one...then 5 years later the boy shows up. You would think by 40 I would have figured out how this all works...? :D It's all good...my mom always says, make your plans, the universe needs something to laugh at.

OK I placed my order for the Kicker Tweeters! OP these better be good! LOL. I’m still trying to figure out the front and rear doors but this is a great start (I hope).

Anyone tried this mod or know if it will work on a (2nd gen) 2011 pre-runner? It looks like most of these posts have newer trucks.
I'm eager to upgrade mine from these old oem speakers!

I believe the speakers will fit! How good they sound will depend on what kind of power the head unit puts out. I am not very familiar with the older headunits

You won't regret the tweeters - there IS actually treble that comes from that head unit, you just can't hear it without it being muffled with the nearly nonexistent stock tweeters. You'll be back for the doors though to round it all out. One step at a time is what I did as well... ;)

That's the truth. I have the stock head unit and I hardly hear anything out of the tweeters. It looks like eBay has a good pair, I'll try those first.
I bought this this truck last year and I've been upgrading one thing at a time.

    Thanks for the help!

Check earlier in this thread as someone talked about the tweeters for the 2nd Gen. The tweeters discussed here are all for the 3rd Gen which will NOT work on your truck. The other speakers may very well work, but you need to look at different tweeters as yours (I think) are in the door and ours are in the dash.

Anyone got any advice on the tabs holding on the door panels? I'm watching the Taco Tunes video on YouTube and have the orange plastic panel tools but can't get the bottom tabs to budge at all!?
