Does anyone know where to source the male 4 pin connector for the kicker tweeter? I can't find it anywhere..

If you don’t have a JBL truck, it’s the stock connector. No aftermarket bits needed, it’s plug and play.

I have the lovely JBL system. It doesn’t look like the adaptor is made on the male side.

Well you’re in luck: This upgrade isn’t for JBL trucks. The JBL system is 2 ohm, has an external amp, and requires a lot of different stuff than the standard 4 ohm entune system.

Just completed today. Due to number of positive comments I made a leap of faith. WOW!! Amazing results for under 200...I have had several whole system makeovers in previous vehicles and was very skeptical on simply doing the speakers. Did the tweeters a week before the doors and had a huge improvement, but the doors really set it off, lots of bass with no amp. Don't question it, just do it... Love Crutchfield. Living in Cville made it super simple and fast.

Right on! If you decide to go a step further, I can't recommended enough the Kicker Key amp. I added this to my system and it put even more power behind those speakers and it easily fits behind the dash

In the process of sound deadening the rear wall. Is is recommended not to cover the vent? Is it bad if they are covered? I’ve seen both where people cover them or go around.
    Appreciate any feedback?

Don’t cover them. Those are vents to prevent too much air pressure. Keeps you from busting an ear drum when you slam the door shut. I’ve seen cars be too sealed up and actually shatter a window when the door shut.
The Tacoma isn’t the most air-tight vehicle, But I’d leave them open

Just did the tweeter install in 30 minutes from start to finish, and I'm a complete noob with this stuff. Very much plug-and-play. It's amazing Toyota got away with stocking these junk-looking tweeters. The front of my vehicle definitely has the most power now with music and volume, and sounds great! Now I can't wait to do the doors to balance out the sound...

Just replaced all four speakers yesterday. Man I should have done this sooner. I did the tweeters around 8 months ago, so paying the $136 for the kickers now was real nice on the wallet.

for those of you that are adding the kicker key amp, are you adding this even without a sub? Does it make an improvement with only the speaker upgrade and no sub and the sick head unit?

Yes it makes a big difference in my opinion. I get enough bass with the kicker key and the speaker upgrade that I don't feel the need to get a subwoofer.

Ha! Beat me to it. I'll second, this thread is great and really usefully for the key install.

I put them below the tweeter. I wedged them in there pretty good and they are not moving. :)

Just added a new Sony head unit and new kicker speakers. Got everything from Crutchfield. I kept the steering wheel controls. About $575 all in. More than I wanted to pay but very happy with the results.

I have installed the tweeters and the front door speakers. Great improvement over stock. Front door speakers really cleared up the bass.

Does this level out the front and rear audio level? It seems like the rear speakers are non existent in my truck unless the volume is at 80%+

No. Need a new head unit or an amp for that. The factory radio puts out essentially no power to the rears, so new speakers will also get essentially no power
