I used the KSC670s in my rear doors. They have an adequate mounting bracket right inside the box. The front doors are the only ones that won't fit without an adapter.

Can anyone provide input on if it's worth powering my speakers if I'm still running the stock stereo? Or should I not bother powering the speakers?

    My setup will be:
    (2) Subaru replacement tweeters
    (2) Hertz Uno X for the fronts
    (2) JVC CS-DR621 for the rears
    (1) 10" Alpine Type S sub with ********* box
Alpine PDR-V75 5 channel amp to power everything

Also, if anyone has any input on where I can save on this setup let me know! I'm looking at $1200 for the amp, sub, and install from the shop (for the speakers, amp, and sub) + the price of all the speakers, sub and box separate.

This shop is charging you ~ $800 for an amp install?

It's actually $1200 for the amp, 10" alpine sub, install for the 6 speakers, install for the amp, and install for the sub, including tax.

EDIT: I edited my original post. But can anyone clarify regarding if it's worth powering the speakers with the stock head unit?

    It's worth it.

Also, that's still around $700 for install. You're providing the box and all the speakers.

This is all really plug and play, with a little effort you could easily DIY.

I'm a 40 year old noob when it comes to doing any stereo or mechanical work on cars. The Taco is very easy to work on. I didn't do an amp (and probably won't) but if you could find some pretty generic directions and figure it out. The speakers are pretty easy.

Still worth considering the shop will provide the wire harness, all speaker cable, and ensure it. I currently also have no tools, so that contributes to the cost for me to do the install myself.

Looks like I'm gonna go with the subaru tweeters + 4 hertz speakers + 10" alpine type s sub

I have a 2006 saab 92x, rebranded wrx wagon. What year are the famed tweeters from? The car is out of commission and once fixed will be a backup if the taco breaks down, so it’s never getting driven lol. I think the tweeters are ‘12 and up but wondering if my ‘06 are the same

Well the ones everybody uses are the Kicker upgrade for the Subaru’s. Not the actual Subaru OEM tweeter.

I think they may have had a few years on certain models where Kicker did the “premium” system, similar to how JBL does the “premium” on most Toyota’s. But that may not even be correct. Kicker makes a select few kits of direct-swap speakers and these happen to work for the tweeters.

there’s a pretty high chance that your Subaru tweeters look and feel very similar to the stock Toyota ones

Disconnect the battery, disassemble/reassemble and nothing will happen.

I'm looking to start buying the stuff needed for this project. I seen that Amazon and Crutchfield have been sold out of the Kicker CS series speakers from a while. Any thoughts on the DS series? They are a little bit cheaper, handle less RMS power but still probably more then the Toyota headunits output. They sound the same in online test with my headphones. I'm looking at the 6x9's and 6.75's

I ended up getting the KS series all around, but I’m also going to put in a Kicker Key 200.4.
