I contacted crutchfield. They let me know that kicker often runs specials. For anyone that missed the buy 1 get 1/2 off sale crutchfield has a 60 price guarantee. So anything that come up they'll refund the difference

Thanks for trying this out, sounded like a cool idea but when you mentioned that Crutchfield recommended them for better bass, I did scratch my head a bit. My bass is great without any deadening or baffles. Send 'em back for credit!

No - if you buy now and they go on sale within 60 days you would be eligible for the price match I believe

Working on install now, fronts are done...working on it in between conference calls lol.

I ended up using the baffles just for the foam padding between mounts and speakers by cutting them up. Also used additional foam between mounts and doors. So far fronts sound great with no rattling!

The more I read reviews the more skeptical I became. I think if there was enough space for a large baffle it would be fine...but with it basically only as deep as the speaker itself, there just wasn't enough space for the sound to resonate in. When you look at the design of the door, it's basically a baffle in and of itself and it's got enough space that the sound resonates and creates deeper base. Note the difference when you roll down the window and the sound deflects differently...makes a big difference. The door's design is probably 75% of the bass response we're hearing.

It's all good...they were 20 bucks, no biggie.

It looks like there's not a tweeter for our 2nd gens that's a direct-fit upgrade without having to get a bracket.

That was my original hesitation in buying one piece at a time. Super glad I went ahead and got everything at the same time.

I used the Crutchfield links from OP and pleased with the output.

The guy before me put kicker tweeters in and just made a bracket out of cutting board. I never knew until I took my door panel off a few days ago. 7335DDCC-6CAD-4307-B793-19F3F192FEAD.jpg

I'd agree - the space behind the speaker is perfect for some bass resonance as-is. Toyota did a lot to get around spending an extra $50 (at their cost) to put a better set of speakers in these! :) I'm sure someone came up with an extra .25mpg improvement by putting in near weightless speakers in there. ha

Just finished installing the sound deadening material on all 4 doors. As mentioned just recently by someone else, it takes a little less than 1 box (bought 2 just in case... might do behind rear seat eventually) and took me about 1.5hrs total. I had a roller to smooth everything out.

Difference is quite amazing. Bass is tight and loud. Not too shabby of an audio upgrade for around $300, when all is said and done.

Congrats. If I can find the time (and our baby isn't here just yet) I plan to do the sound deadening this weekend. Did you do it all at once or did you try w/o the deadening first? My sound is already excellent without it, but I figure the deadening can't hurt... would love to hear a before and after, but perhaps I'll be the first

I assume if they run any specials within 60 days AFTER you buy the speakers you will get a refund. Not sure if it's automatic or not.

I did the speakers and a few days ago and now the deadening. Speakers were a huge upgrade but the deadening takes it up another few notches.
