yeah I did both sides of door. The plastic door trim you will see where you can put it easily. Inside door directly on metal, over stretched plastic etc, and then on inside of removed trim piece. I would say def do firewall even though there is some of that carpet padding stuff already. It knocks down some engine noise down near floor where speakers are. And anything that could rattle like clips or cables make sure to secure.

trying to figure out if 2016 entune needs a different adapter for rear speakers. crutchfield said no and triple checked for the kickers recommended in the first post. if it is a different part, does anyone have the part number?

Did you look on the Home page far left site navigation. Hit 4Runner and when that comes up go far left again hit audio/video. You might find something there. Or just call Crutchfield and ask.

Help me decide. Ok I have read this thread and for now I am just replacing my front door's because my drivers side 6x9 stopped working and the fact that I have very little cash to work with. I have narrowed it down to one of these. I like the Pioneer TS-A692C 6X9's with crossover tweeter's for 130 bucks but Crutchfield website recommends the JL Audio C1-690cw 6x9's with crossover tweeter's for 160 bucks. The specs are close on both but I have never heard of JL Audio. I'm old school. After reading all of this it probably wont even really mater since I'm keeping it stock.

@15TACOSPORT4X4 JL has been around for a while, prob not as long as pioneer but if you are keeping the OEM radio, I would look at the sensitivity rating on both sets of speakers. The higher the number, they better they will sound with a lower wattage rating. I cant say i have heard any of pioneers new speakers in the last 20 years or more so i cant give an honest opinion on their advancement. I would probably lean towards the JL just in case you think you may add power or other changes later. Hopefully someone with experience in either of these models will reply to give their thoughts or input. After looking them up, the JL are 94 for sensitivity where the Pioneers are 87db. Thats a big difference even though it doesnt seem like much.

Not sure if you know it but on the Crutchfield site, some of the speakers give you an option to hear them with different music genre's. Throw in some airpods and see what you think between the two.

Ok I decided to go with the JL Audio C1-690's 6x9 up front and was looking at the C1-650x's 6.5 for the rear doors and Crutchfield site says they wont fit. Its a 6 1/2 speaker but maybe its to tall or what. I want to keep it all same brand. If nobody knows I will just call them. Thanks

i have 6.5” rears in my truck, the only reason i could see that would make those not fit would be the depth of the speaker maybe?

I agree, depth of the speaker of basket size maybe. Not sure if the adaptors would help with depth or not

I would suggest looking up the depth of the Kicker 6.5” speakers alot of folks use to upgrade and go off the measurements of those speakers as a reference to know if yours will fit or not

Question. Did you end up going with 6.75 or 6.5 in the rear, and what amp are you running?

Has anyone tried the Morel Maximos 602 v2 in the Taco front doors? Specifically a 2nd Gen. I see where Crutchfield says they dont fit our doors but they are 6.5's but i cant determine why since the mounting depth is the same as other high quality components out there. Hoping someone can verify whether they fit or not.

I just hung up with Crutchfield and we compared these to several others and it appears the mounting diameter is about a 1/16 larger than stock. Should be find with slight grinding or a little snips around the edges vs full out cutting

Anyone know why I have a tiny bit of engine noise? Running my twisted rca cable alongside my power and remote wire maybe this is the cause? Not coming from amp ground because when I disconnect the rca from
The amp the noise goes away it’s not a serious engine noise barely noticeable nearly non existent with music but it’s there, if anyone amped the factory head unit and experience this lmk how or if you got rid of it, thanks .

See if you can route the RCA away from the power. To test it, make a 90 degree turn with your rca's at some point before getting to the amp and see if the noise goes away, if it does, it due to being too close or could be a lower quality RCA's. Some of the higher end models these days have enough shielding that being too close isnt as big of an issue.
