I think it's something with Crutchield's site that sometimes says it isn't compatible but rest assured, if you have a 3rd gen we have a good sample size now of folks now on TW that have purchased and installed w/o issue.

Did you guys end up needing the speed clips and screws that came with everything from crutchfield?

Since the buy one, get one 50% off deal at Crutchfield expired I decided to order off of Amazon. I neglected to order the adapter and wiring harnesses the first go around, but I was able to find everything on amazon for an additional 40 bucks or so (still cheaper than crutchfield without the promotion) but the only thing I can't get on amazon are the screws and speed slips that come with it.

Can someone point out where I could buy these separately? From Crutchfield they are a couple bucks but 7 dollars in shipping.

I think all of us have. Use the screws that come with the speakers. Screw directly into the plastic mounts. On the front they will look off alignment but that little bit of angle it forces on each screw gives it the bite to hold the speaker securely in the mount. Or just drill a small pilot hole in the plastic if you're not wanting to angle them. The screws will bite and the screws that come with the speakers are the appropriate length for the mounts. The ones that crutchfield is sending are too long. They can be discarded or saved for a rainy day.

I am experiencing rattling with my newly installed kickers. Did anyone experience this issue?

Tell us more about the circumstances where you have the rattling. For me, I could MAKE it rattle if I played an electronic song with bass and volume at or near max. But no rattling otherwise..

After doing the Noico behind the speakers and on the front doors, I cannot make it rattle at any setting now.

I put foam tape on the mounts where it touches the door frame, and then used the cut baffles to seal the speaker to the mount. Both of those add a bit of thickness but if it's contacting the door panel, it's not making any noise at all. I can't get rattling under any scenarios. Bass is deep and clean.

Completed my install on Friday night while the wife was out. I was a bit concerned about breaking tabs but after completing the first door I was fine.

I ended using 10 of the 12 sheets of dynamat like product. I removed the plastic liner first and tried to keep as much adhesive on the plastic as possible to use later.

When installing the speaker adapters I used the suggestion of installing the screws at an angle and slowing screwing them down to pinch the speaker onto the mount. I also used a foam tape between the adapter and truck door. This seemed to provide a very tight seal with no chance of rattle.

I didn't put anything between the speaker and the mount, but I did make sure and thoroughly place the Noico deadening around any contact points the mounts had with the door in addition to behind the speaker above and below the bar and all over the door itself. Very nice, tight sound with my EQ dialed in correctly now. I'd also make sure you don't have contact with the door panel and if you do put some foam or deadening where it would touch. Good luck - guarantee you can get any rattles out, but may need to do some tinkering.

Did you use sound deadening material at all? It definitely helps, but if I hadn't done it I still wouldn't be unhappy and dealing w/ rattles. The deadening is worth doing if you haven't though...
