The tweeters do not work for a 2nd gen, but everything else works perfectly with the adapters and wiring harnesses from Crutchfield. I have 2014 as well and it was plug and play. Took maybe 30 minutes to do all 4 door speakers. When ordering from Crutchfield, I just said I had a 2016 Tacoma, so it automatically added the adapters and wiring harnesses.

I can confirm that most of my noise comes from the rear of the truck. The doors are very quiet since I added the sound material, but the back is terrible.

Plan on a full days work. There's a lot of disassembly and reassembly but it's worth the time. I highly recommend watching this ********* video for some tips on making it easier (it's for a second gen model but the rear wall is basically the same):

Installed tweeters and noticed a considenable improvement. Went ahead and ordered the 4 speakers along with sound deadening which will arrive today. Question: how hard is it to remove the rear panels on an access cab?

Easy. It is a torx holding the pull grip cup in place and another holding the inside door handle under the little rubber cover. Need to remove lower seat belt bolt. A few snap clips top side and bottom. Hardest part was getting upper seat belt adjuster mechanism back in at top so it slides up and down as designed. Been 6 months but it was super easy. Maybe 10 minutes on 1st door. Quicker on 2nd door. There are instructions on line somewhere. Maybe on oemaudio.com.

I've got a subwoofer back that fills the entire space behind the rear seat. Wonder if that helps? lol Maybe some day I'll have the drive to pull it out and put sound deadening back there too.

For now I'm receiving all my shit tomorrow. Doing a component system for the front doors. That means I have to figure out how to incorporate crossovers for the tweeter/woofers in the doors. Talked to an installer at a local shop last night. He said he rarely puts crossovers inside the door as they get rattled around a lot. He likes to put them in the kick plate area under the dash. No idea where I'd mount them under there.

    Looking forward to better sound!!

Kicker 43CSS694 6x9 components with a ********* adapter. Fits good and sounds great (they are amp'd of course).

How is the sounds quality over stock? I have a stock 2013 headunit, so I want to compare a 2nd gen

Did crutchfield send me the wrong shit? It doesn't look like the video. The speaker doesn't match up to the bracket and the bracket has no slot for the white connector to plug back in

It appears to be the correct shape and height. I know mine had square holes for the wire adapter plugs. That doesn't mean these won't work. Maybe these are more universal. The plug hole isn't that important. As long as you can connect the plug it should be fine. It only takes a few minutes to remove a stock one and lay it side by side to see if the profile and height match up. Lay the new speaker on the mount when comparing because the stock speaker and mount are 1 piece. Don't install any screws until you compare them.

I think I got it. Used the pigtails to connect the new speaker . The speaker to bracket connection was a bit wonky but I got it.

OK folks, I have a rattle somewhere in my A pillar after the speaker replacement. I have removed and reinstalled it twice and cannot find a single thing that looks suspicious but I’m getting a vibration from the pillar area on lower volume. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Did you pull it off and check that both clips are in their holding spots and then pushed into the metal holes.

Yes. I lined it up and placed it in twice. I am at a loss but it clearly sounds like something loose. It is just pure vibration so I know something is wrong but cannot find it.

My setup: I upgraded both the front and rear doors with the kicker cs speakers as everyone is suggesting here. Stock head unit, alpine kpt-445u bridged and powering the fronts only. I did not yet upgrade the tweeters. Weatherstrip gaskets between speakers and adapter, and between adapter and doors. No sound deadening.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the sound. Yes it's better than the stock speakers but not getting the level of joy that many of you are sharing from your experiences.

Trying to decide if getting the Subaru tweeters will really make much more improvement. Also wondering for those of you who have done the noico sound deadening, is there any odor? Anyone have it in place through a hot summer?

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

On second gens, it's easy to pull that sub out and do the back wall. It's about 4 bolts and a quick connect. That back wall is where all the noise comes from.

Maybe try it without the amp? Mine is definitely much better. No odor sight he noico, I live in Texas and it was 85+ for the first few weeks I had it in

I added the tweeters first, a few days later the rears, then a few days later the fronts. I did do the noico sound deadening and i did a half ass job too...I think it helped though. TWEETERS make the biggest difference. The highs are clearer and crisper. The other two just give cleaner and louder bass in my opinion. All are a MAJOR improvement. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you replace the tweeters with the Subaru ones. I know that I'm not. My friends and family say the system sounds better too.
