Wonder what my 2nd Gen door panels will look like. Local stereo shop says to put the sound deadener on the inner panel of the door (helping reduce vibration/noise from the road).

Supposed to get all my stuff tomorrow! So we'll see what I get done after work.

K&N airfilter, HID conversion for headlights/fogs. Wet Okole Seat covers, Kove Aphex processor Kenwood comp 6.5" and 6.5"coaxial 5100 billy shocks 2.5", 1.5" fabtech AAL,Epicenter and MTX Sub, debadged, tinted, kenwood dnx812, black mesh grill, led ext/int.
I have the jbl system in my 2008, changed my head unit to kenwood, components up front with coaxial in the rear. Both kenwood. Just replaced 8" jbl sub to a pioneer slim sub. Sound is pretty good, way better than oem JBL. now with more noticeable rattling from the sub. I'm applying noico 50 mil and see if that improves SQ.

Finished doing the install, first did the tweeters a few days ago and noticed a significant improvement.

Did the front and rear tonight along with some sound deadening. Huge improvement over stock. Crisper and the bass is perfect. Only issue now is a small rattle on the passenger side in the speaker area so I'll have to investigate more.

Overall though, speakers and the sound deadening gave it a completely different sound over stock. Definitely recommend!

I think ********* had a good idea in their video. If not them, then one of the other guys that I found from Google when I was doing research. They were putting the cross-over behind one of the lower kick panels that would be right above your left foot under the dash.

It gets rather warm here in Mississippi and I did not notice any odor from the sound deadening material.

I think unfortunately our SR(and likely SR5 too) headunits are not pushing the kind of power that the Entune headunits are. If you search my recent posts here, I had the same underwhelming feeling. So much so that I have returned my Crutchfield order.

Bummer to hear this - sorry you had to go through the hassle. I'll get some updates done to OP re: SR and SR5s given this feedback. Those entune HU are pretty impressive in power output for a stock unit but it's not surprising that trims below that even cut that benefit out. Thanks for trying this out so we can share experiences for others in the same boat

Better to ask dumb questions than to make dumb mistakes :) Glad you got it all worked out! I hadn't messed with car audio in nearly 20 years so I was pretty dumb going through this as well. Good thing we now live in the age of the interwebs and youtube! ha

Hey guys, I hope all is well. I have a 2014 DCSB with the basic touch screen navi (No JBL). I'm not much of a audio enthusiast but I do like to be able to hear my music/books.

I am looking to upgrade my speakers. Right now when I'm listening to an audio book, I damn near have it turned to the max. Same with my music when I get onto the freeway. I am not looking into upgrading my headunit nor add an sub. I like the OEM feel/look and I use my behind the seat storage so there's no way to fit a sub in there.

Is it worth upgrading the speakers? If so, what brand do you guys recommend? I prefer something that's plug and play. I appreciate the help folks!

I have the same year and model as you. From what I've gathered, the Kicker speakers are great. Though if you plug that into Crutchfield, it will tell you the front Kicker 6x9's will not fit. Another TW member said he ordered these along with the fit kit for the 2016 model year and they do in fact fit. Also, the Subaru tweeters do not fit the 2014 from what I gather. Though ********* offers a wiring harness that allows you to replace the stock tweeter and keep the wiring in place to drive the lower door speakers.

I'm keeping an eye on this thread but waiting until Black Friday/Cyber Monday to possibly make my purchase.

I didn't even know our generation had tweeter? I don't remember seeing it. I guess I'll double check again when I head to lunch.

So Kicker it is huh? And my guess is Crutchfield is where to buy it?

The tweeter is in the upper door. And yes, Crutchfield seems to be the place to buy since it's kind of a one-stop-shop and includes any needed speaker mount adapters and such. With the exception of the ********* wiring harness for the tweeter.

I'll probably end up buying the tool kit to help with the project. It's only a few bucks. And may as well do sound deadening material and possibly the dust covers for behind the for speakers to help just a bit more. I'd much rather do the project right the first time. Unlike my suspension. lol

    Was this in video format?

This is what the local stereo shop said too. I’m just not sure where they are referring. Though I haven’t stuck my head under there....
