Thanks @bshammer0 for the links and detailed description.

I was not planning on doing this upgrade but the Crutchfield sale was too hard to pass up, not to mention all of the positive reviews of changing the speakers.

We've bought so many of these, that the price on Amazon for the tweeters has gone up $4

I THINK the lower frequency response results in more bass??

Absolutely! The lower the frequency response, the deeper the bass that the speakers can produce is. Deep is completely different than punch however.;-)

I ordered these also. looking forward to trying them out!

It might and I noticed that as well, but I was looking for efficiency as I figured that the HU would not put out a whole lot and I wanted to get more sound for what it would provide. With using the 3-ways in the front, I have a ton of high end, so you may well have a point that the JBLs are missing a little on the low end. It's not that much that I am bothered by it as I just turn up the bass a little, but your point could be the reason for that.

In all honesty, the brand of speakers is all personal preference, so get what you feel is the best and you will still see a huge increase from the stock speakers.

You could probably splice in many different aftermarket Tweeters, the huge benefit of the Subaru ones is they plug right in.

So quick question as I'm about make the order but the tweeters are only for the trucks that have tweeters in the A pillars factory correct? I'm not near my truck today and didn't know since my truck does not have factor a pillar tweeters, I'm just assuming I don't have any all together?

If you have a 2017 Off Road then I am sure you have Tweeters in the dash.

I am 99.9% certain you do as well. They are tucked up way in the front corner and difficult to get out as you can barely get a wrench in there between the speaker and the windshield.

Just to tag on that... they have the wiring harness plug and mounting bracket included as an assembly. Once I noticed that, I went ahead and bought them even though I had already bought what Crutchfield recommended. I even got the wiring harness from ********* before I read that thread and still bought them. It made the install so much easier.

Thanks @bshammer0 for the write up. I was also encouraged by @IndyFastlane's tweeter post. I have ordered it all from Kicker and I should be able to work on it next weekend. The only difference in my setup is I also ordered a Kicker Hideaway amped sub, just to try and add a little more bass. Not sure if I needed/wanted it but since I was going to open up all the panels and replace the speakers, I figured why not. I'm kind of torn on where to place it (under the driver's seat or behind the rear passenger seat).

Also thanks for letting us know that the stock radio head unit does seem to have a good amount of power. I was afraid it wouldn't. I suspect it's going to be harder and harder for folks to pull the plug and get aftermarket head units, given all the vehicle integration that the stock head units have.

I'm pretty tempted to buy the speakers.. I've already done the tweeters and the sound has improved significantly..

I can say I have zero complaints about clarity, depth, and volume of the bass on the kickers - esp the 3-ways in the front. It's louder than the stock speakers' bass but without being muddy and drowning out everything else.

The bass response was my primary hesitation but I'm telling you that HU with a decent set of speakers will change your opinion of the HU power and quality...

The ORs definitely have tweets in the dash but the video in the OP walks you through it - 5 mins each if you're doing the subbies. I know $100 for tweeters sounds stupid but they are very high quality based on my experience. I finally get that little tingle in my ears when listening to crisp guitar riffs, snares, vocals, etc and of course then I wanted all other ranges to match that quality.

...awaiting these speakers to be SOLD OUT on Critchfield soon based on the traffic here!
