    One PSA:

For me the speaker mounts for the fronts didn't have all of the holes line up perfectly. Also saw this referenced on some Amazon reviews. No big deal though, I think I had to drill a pilot hole each for the fronts to get them to line up but all other screws went in just fine.

Here is another alternative for Cheap speakers. Cheap Tweeters that is. You can do all 4 doors for less than $80.
    • Less than 1/2 the cost of the Subaru tweeters
    • They are directional.
    • Come with the crossovers.
    • Made by one of the best names in the Industry.
    • Installs in about 20 minutes per door.

Two PSA: Line up your mounts to the doors to ensure fit before mounting your speakers to them. They are L and R specific for the front and back based on the locale of the 10mm screws. I assumed they were the same initially and had to take the speakers back off the mounts and swap sides bc I failed to check this first.

For me the most time consuming part of the whole thing was mounting the speakers on their mounts and pulling back out any fasteners that remain in the door when you pull it apart. Not hard though... and still with my mess up above it took me about an hour so I'm sure smarter minds will make it a lunch break project!

Looks pretty solid! ...not sure any of the 3rd gens have the spots in the doors for these unless maybe if a Limited or w/ JBl already but I've honestly only say in a OR and Sport

If I had ten bucks for every time I say "this is my last mod".
The good side, you get a pretty good sound system, and sound deadening for considerable less that the 450Q.

    My bad. :anonymous:

Didn't realize this was a 3rd Gen thread. They are a universal fit and come with many adapters for multiple applications.
Theses tweeters sound amazing and I'm sure with a little American ingenuity. They could easily be adapted to a 3rd gen's front and rear doors.

I've been hating the stereo since I got the truck. Just ordered all the speakers. I can afford a $200 gamble.

That got me when I installed. I must have spun those things around 100 times trying to get the holes to line up. On the rear speakers I used the self tapping screws that came with the speakers and found the small holes on the adapters lined up. The screws go in nice and tight. I might recommend aligning up where you are going to put the screws in and starting them without the speakers. It takes a bit of pressure and twist to start the screws. You don't want the screwdriver to slip and put a nice big hole in your new speakers.

^^^ This. Anyone also know how much of it is needed for the doors? The stuff is expensive. Apparently Peel & Seal works as well and is way cheaper.

You need two Dynamat extreme 10435 kits. One Dynamat 10007 roller, a good sharp utility knife, and a pair of scissors. Amazon or eBay depending on the best deal. More than a couple good YouTube videos on how to do it. Just search installing Dynamat extreme. Also search 2016 tacoma removal of door panels. ********* has a couple good ones. Make sure you connect back up the door handle and door lock correctly before you snap the panel back on. And don't close the door before you check. IMG_3029.jpgIMG_3030.jpg

Yikes! That's $144 on Amazon. You covered the whole door, is there a minimum amount or minimum place covered that you would go for? If not I guess I will install everything and then see if anything rattles.

From what I have read do at least the area where the speakers bolt to. You can also check out DEI boom mat speaker baffles. Someone else posted about using them.

I think I am going to use weather stripping between the mounts and the doors. Don't feel
Like spending a ton of time and money on dynamat

I'm with you, may do the same. The vehicle is not a Lexus. I just don't want any rattles.

Boom - exactly what happened to me on one of my rears but Crutchfield was amazing about it and swapped them out. Definitely take this advice to get the screws started for the rears

Same - I have some spare stripping I will probably put around the mounts on the front. There is zero rattle, UNLESS I turn the bass to max, volume to max, and listen to a very bass-heavy song like electronic heavy music. Even then it's slight but for a small Sat AM project it ain't hard to do. Let us know how the weatherstripping works out for you!
