What a difference those tweeters make. It’s definitely a vast improvement!

New guy here. Just picked up my 2018 OR a few hours ago. I ordered the Subaru tweeters yesterday from Amazon, so I can’t wait to get them.

I read every page of this thread yesterday and didn’t find the answer to my question.

I took my Kicker Hideaway and Alpine Powerpack out of the vehicle I traded. I ordered the ********* add a sub harness to hook up the Hideaway, but not sure about the Powerpack.

Has anyone tried OP’s recommended speakers with a Powerpack? The stock system has decent bass, but it sure is a muddy mess. Thanks!

    Too much.
There are a couple of people who have hooked up a power pack with great results. The speakers mentioned in this thread work great without an amp, so any power you add is gravy

Thanks. I may try it. I’m going to buy the speakers and try them by themselves first. Looking forward to the tweeters, the soundstage seems to be around my knees.

The tweeters rock really good. Puts the stage where it should be. I didn't buy the speakers recommended for the front doors because I had leftovers from my last truck I wanted to use instead. Plus the thought of 8 tweeter cones in the truck kind of lost me (2 on dash, 2 on each of the door speakers, they are 3 ways, and 2 more in the rear)

I have the same concern, seems it’s not been an issue for most people.

I’m doing tweeters first, then my Kicker Hideaway. Then I’ll go with OP’s speakers to see how they sound, and then possibly the power pack.

Really like the truck so far, I do miss Apple CarPlay, but I’ll get over it.

Kicker makes a coaxial 6x9 that keeps you in the $250 range if you would rather that.

    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_206KSC6904/Kicker-44KSC6904.html?tp=105&avf=Y

They're not on sale right now. Everyone got theirs by watching for the sale, I had ordered these before deciding to go with my left over PPIs and they were like 89

Thanks, I may check those out! Still be an extra tweeter, though. I had 6x9 Memphis components in my last truck and they weren’t that great, so I’m open to trying the suggested Kickers.

Thanks to everyone for this thread. Today I took the plunge and put in the dash tweeters. Man what a difference...... Install took me about 30 min, only because getting the drivers side A-Pillar back on took a bit longer because my OCD kicked in and I wanted it perfect... Anyhow now like many other posters I am ready to jump to the next project and am thinking of doing the front doors, holding on the back doors for now, as there is no sale to get me to buy both at once. I saw earlier in this thread that a Crutchfield rep said the DS series maybe the way to go over the CS series w/ the stock HU and no amp. Thoughts????

    - Also I get this message when I add the speakers to cart, "The front tweeters and the door woofers are wired together at each tweeter location. If you remove or replace the tweeters, you'll have to splice the input and output wires together to keep the woofers working".

This has nothing to do w/ the dash tweeters and is referring to the tweeters within the door speakers correct? (sorry sorta new to this).

Regarding the tweeter wiring....Crutchfield is trying to warn you that the tweeters and door speakers are wired in series....if you unplug a dash tweeter, signal is lost to the front door woofer. If you cut/splice wires to install aftermarket tweeters in the dash, you have to do it in such a way that the signal doesn’t get cut to the door speakers.

When you put the kicker/Subaru tweeters in, you avoided having to worry about all that....they function the same way (in terms of connector and wiring) as the stock speakers. You are good to go!

Regarding the choice of door speakers.....I installed the CS series as recommended by the OP here. They really sound amazing FWIW. The CS series speakers have integrated tweeters which originally concerned me (that there would be too much high frequency going on with all the tweeters), but it is very balanced and sounds great.

Anyone lose the white clips that hold the top corner panel on? Little white plastic things? Surely these aren’t hard/expensive to replace

Thanks for the reply. I will let you know how the cs speakers turn out. Love this forum! At least I love it, my wallet doesn’t.

Walked out of the house today to head to work and somehow it was damn near 70 degrees. I got to take my commute windows down and the upgrades absolutely kicked ass. The tweeters make a huge difference and the front door speakers add some clarity and a little mid range bump. Upgrading from my 10" Type S to the Sundown SD3-10 was the best decision I could have made. Couldn't be happier!

I installed all 4 door speakers today. Total time about 4 hours so an hour a door not rushing took my time.

I did not notice a drastic improvement but I already have had the tweeters and a Kenwood 9903s in for about 7 months.

Give it time and im sure ill notice due to breakin and my hearing.

an Alpine MRP-M500 that I've had for about 8-9 years wired at 2ohms. It honestly feels like I could push so much more to it.

doubling the power will only in theory give a 3db rise in sound so I don't think it's worthwhile. And although people are pushing more to these subs I wouldn't do it personally.
