It's funny, I replaced the tweeters and was totally satisfied. Pretty sure I even posted in here that it was sufficient and all you needed. Was amazed at the upgrade in sound! Yeah, that lasted a few weeks and I upgraded the front doors. Again, amazed and satisfied. Nobody over the age of 8 is ever in the back seat anyway...

    Too much.
And 2 weeks later you'll be asking about hooking up an amp and a sub....

But I was already going that route I guess...

Bought the Subaru tweeters a couple weeks back and finally got around to installing them today. Huge improvement.

I ordered the same setup at the OP. Any else had an issue with the adapters from Crutchfield? The front door adapters would only line up 3 screws. I had enough plastic to just tap a screw on the fourth hole and did that. The guy at Crutchfield didn’t know why it didn’t either, but he said to just run 3.... naw I’ll tap a fourth to keep it from moving any.

I haven’t gotten the Tweeters in yet. But to be honest I wasn’t in as much “Awww” as I thought I would have been. Maybe I was expecting more after hearing all the rave reviews. No offense to anyone. Maybe the tweeters will help.:crapstorm:

I thought the tweeters were the by far the biggest part of the upgrade. Some people just do Tweeters and call it.

I still plan on doing the front doors, but really impressed with just the tweeters so far.

Tweeters shipped today. Went to order the rest from crutchfield and hit some snags. Crutchfield will not ship to Canada. So I find there is a crutchfield Canada website. After exchange the Canadian crutchfield is 33% or $100 more expensive. This is no longer a cheap upgrade. Been arguing for a week with their customer service people. Basically their suppliers are being territorial and they have to deal with the suppliers from each respective country. So a lot of finger pointing and saying it’s not us it’s them. I am trying to find another competitive supplier as I don’t like rewarding this kind of business practice. At worst I may be shipping to Detroit and crossing the river once they arrive at our fiends place. What a pain.

I may stick with the tweeters for now and debate the rest for later.

I posted about the same issue very early on in this thread. I found no solution other then forking out the cash to Crutchfield Canada. Well not as cheap as it is in the south, I still found it to be very much worth the added cost and I don't think you'll regret it.

I bought the add an amp harness... now saving for the amp....finally will buy the sub and box. My TMJ bumper and baja squadron sports, and matching spare have depleted my Taco funds for a while.

Just some thoughts for people new to this thread that the video doesn't really cover, or breezes over quick, in no particular order.

    • When you remove the doors go from the bottom up, get your fingers in there and pop it off, use some force
    • In the video it says that you remove the green and white ball hooks from the door handle (back of door), that is great if the door handle stays in the door. One of mine came through to the other side. No big deal when you place the door back just pop it through and secure it in place it clips back in.
    • When the door is off inspect the back and look for fasteners that are still in the metal door, use a pick tool, needle nose, or the orange took that looks like a fork on the end to pop them out and secure them on the back of the door you just took off.
    • When placing the door back on start top down and it sorta hooks on the widow frame and find a clip then the rest is cake.
    • The Crutchfield brackets line up 3 / 4 screw holes on the 6x9 front speakers, if you get 3 in and secure I you can stop there, but I used a small drill bit on the bracket to make a hole for the last screw.

If anything else comes to mind I will revise and add, just want to give some pointers to people just starting this project so they don't have to go through 90 pages.

Do you need to put anything between the bracket & door/speaker to prevent rattling?

No the bracket fits perfectly to the door and you use the same bolts you took off the OEM cardboard crap speakers that were there. Snug them up and they fit perfectly. When you hold the OEM speaker in your hand you will laugh its basically the feel of an empty pizza box w/ the same weight.

Everything is in the garage and I will probably start the install Saturday morning. I will try and photo document my progress and any meaningful success/failures along the way. The door latches are most concerning to me, but seems like most have had success and I'm pretty mechanically inclined. I've planned about 4 hours for the entire install including the sound deadening material. I'll report back Saturday.

Is that just speakers, or are you adding other stuff? After the first door, it goes pretty quick.
