Is this the same concept for baiting hooks?

Take the red tab off, super glue it and give it time to cure. Should be ok not much tension on that clip.

I just reinstalled without that clip. Seems to be fine, must have been one of those optional ones

Just like the handful of leftover parts after you put together an Ikea desk! Man I have a lot of optional parts around here...... Just don't sit in a chair I built.

I mean...ive watched my share of videos, and it always makes me think I could probably do it. I think I'll be able to handle the speaker install, I've just been putting it off because I'm never home on weekends, and I'm not looking forward to putting the Noico on all the doors. I'm a perfectionist, which can be pretty annoying at times.
As for a sub and amp, I don't know if I really would want a sub or not. I wouldn't want to be rattling the shit out of everything in my truck with a sub, but it could be a nice option to have. I would love to power all the new door speakers with an amp though. I just don't feel too confident in my ability to install an amp, and I don't know anything about all the wiring and all the different concepts involved with amps.
I plan to just do the tweeters/speakers eventually and see how I like it before I decide if I want to pursue an amp.

i ordered the subaru tweeters for now..I honestly think the factory system sounds ok but the tweeters in the dash sound horrible. Distorting almost as if there is no crossover (idk, is there one?). Are the subaru tweeters going to reduce this distortion a bit?

Yes. I hear zero distortion from those subaru tweeters. you will be impressed as that is the single biggest difference that give you depth and sound staging

I was thinking I was going to stop at the Tweeters, but once you hold the front door 6x9 in your hand as you are installing the Kickers you will realize you made the right choice. I swear the factory 6x9 weights the same as an empty small pizza box. The magnet on it is the size of a pea.

This thread needs a phase 2 sister thread for people who are looking for the next options for Subs and Amps on a budget (that will be blown of course :) )

If you guys can give me some details on what worked best in terms of:
Powered sub option (for those looking for more thump but not necessarily more power)
Regular subs (drawing power from amp)
Amp options / install tips if you have any

Happy to add some additional "phase" options to the OP since we still have a lot of new buyers turn here first for a quick audio mod once folks realize their shiny new truck has pizza box stock speakers!

I like it. I've seen anything from under seat subs to tuck aways to just amps. Some guys just need amp instructions for first time installs. Might be worth separating and then linking in the original post. Or starting an info thread that people can post to that eventually gets updated here. My 2 cents.

Does anyone know how the tweeters on the front speakerswork? Are they essentially useless since we have the tweeters up on the dash? Do the tweeters on the speakers not get used? I was trying to figure that out last night with no luck

The front tweeters and woofers are wired in series (for the non-JBL anyways). If you take out the tweeter, the front woofers will not work unless run your own wiring or splice it to bypass the tweeter.

If you don't want to mess with the wires, you can do a direct swap-out of the OEM tweeter with a Subaru tweeter (made by Kicker). It is a huge improvement over OEM (mainly because the bar was set so low by Toyota) and the harness works with the Toyota harness, so there is no wiring cutting at all.

You'll see it mentioned a bazillion times in this thread, but it does have it's own thread too:
