Mine sounds fantastic. My only complaint is it has connectivity issues when choosing USB or Bluetooth. That is a pain. The standard answer is to delete and re-pair the device. I can't say that it has made that much difference. Brand new .. 2017 .. any updates or fixes?

Great info, thank you. I have the JBL but I'm not all that impressed with the sound. I have not listened to a non-JBL system to compare but my stock stereo in my 2002 F-250 blows away the JBL in my Tacoma. But I'd definitely go with the entune premium. Not sure JBL is worth it but I think it just part of the package. I'm not sure on the OR if you can get all the premium tech without JBL. it's not bad, but it's not all that great.

I have the sr5 and I have the entune audio plus with the app suite and navigation.. the system was not adequate for highway without turning the volume up to 40+, so I installed an OEM audio system that included 6 speakers, 8" subwoofer and 360 watt amp and I love it...

When I bought my TRD OR with Premium & Tech package, I couldn't find one with the up fitted JBL package.

But I didn't let that stop me when I buying my truck, because I can always add an OEM Audio Plus kit and be happy.

I'm sure that the JBL version sounds better than the standard version but for me it wasn't worth the money or the wait to get a truck optioned out with it. I'm old enough now not to care about having the music cranked up loud enough to blow speakers so the standard one works just fine. With all that said, get what makes you happy cause you sure won't remember 5 years from now that you paid an extra $600 for the JBL.

I don't really have a problem with the nonJBL system. It does the job fine for me.

My ‘16 was premium audio, my ‘17 has the JBL. I am an audiophile, the sound is good, and there is more clarity. At times I found myself nearly maxing the volume in my ‘16 with the windows down. With the JBL system in my ‘17, this is not the case. Half volume is plenty. My only complaint with the system is the 3 Band EQ in the stock headunit. Imaging could be better as well.

I’d upgrade the speakers if I knew of some that are compatible with the system. Just my two cents. I like M-Audio.

What exactly is the reason that we can't get JBL in our manuals?
Is there any input on the difference between the JBL system and the OEM Audio Plus kit?

I have no idea why Toyota does stuff like that, seems like they trying to steer people out of a Manual.

you can only get JBL when you upgrade to the premium and tech. package. so its like three levels with the Sport and OR.
    You get either*
-stock Entune Premium(base price of the Sport and OR)
-Entune Premium & Tech package (+2360 over base MSRP)
    -Entune Premium & Tech package w/JBL (+3065( = 2360 + 705) over base MSRP)
(based off the master sheet in this thread for the 2017 models... Link)

So getting JBL is more complicated than just paying an extra $700.
Toyota only sells it to you after you buy all their other gadgets.

Oem audio is better but it's also more expensive. When I was looking before I bought my truck it was $1500 for the kit to make it comparable to the jbl.

I am a musician and went with the JBL system. I checked out both systems and the upgrade was well worth the money. In my opinion there is a big difference in clarity. You can totally control the bass, mids and treble to your liking as well. Sadly the Rav4 I've been stuck in for 2 months now due to the recall does NOT have the JBL system. Trust me if you love music go with the JBLs.
