We may have an Exxon station here nearby or at least in nyc or Long Island where I go occasionally. Have to check that out. Hope it's toptier? Dannyblues

That's right!!! I forgot about that AVGAS having lead and stuff. Not good for anything today except aviation or maybe military tanks etc. Thanks for bringing that to my attention Dannyblues

Believe me when I tell you how many celebrities and congressional and other wealthy people live here in litchfield county Connecticut. There are old estate and historic and huge farms here that cost millions. They get turned into gentlemen estates when bought by the rich and famous. There is even a race track north of me now only used for the rich who can enter their vintage sports cars for the occasion races. I think it was bought and created by Steve Mc Queen. It's too small now for today's faster cars.

Me. I'm just a retired Pepsi soda systems, vending and refrigeration mechanic and Coors beer plumber. I moved here when I was forced to retire at 60 with numerous workers compensation injuries after 32 years at Pepsi. I did well after retirement so my wife and I bought a high ranch on an acre plus here. It's rural. Mostly farms and deeply wooded large plots that hide the famous and wealthy from the rest of us normal folk. Dannyblues

Non ethanol gas is available in my town at the local independant filling station. It's significantly more money per gallon.

It's all I run in my small engines but would not be efficient to run in our automobiles, unfortunately.

Wow. Most stations here have ethanol free or "marine" gas - blue handle.

Dirty Jinga - Buy ethanol free and save receipts. End of year file with taxes and say you used it on a boat. You get refunded road taxes per gallon. Federal is $0.18 a gallon and state is usually more. But if you didn't use it in a boat it would be illegal to say you did and apply the per gallon for a tax refund.

Yes, the most common is blue avgas, 100LL...low lead but not the same as no lead auto gas. I got away with using it back in 1980, but probably not a good idea these days. Sorry for the bad advice.

Problem here is in Connecticut you are property taxed on all vehicles including cars, trucks, motorcycles and boats plus you'd have to buy even just a cheap little boat and pay to have it registered

The Connecticut government is way ahead of you buddy. Oh!!! And me too!!!! Dannyblues

If I remember right Avgas is 100 Low Lead. Lead is bad for modern vehicles.

Where I am at in Colorado I have no ethanol free gas. I have ran Shell 87/91, Conoco 87/91 and I can't tell a difference between any of them.

I wish I could find a suitable octane level non ethanol gas at the pump here. Like you I use pure gas i but at Home Depot for crazy money but use it only in chain saws and weed wackers and leaf blowers that don't use much gas. It comes in four cycle and two cycle blends. Helps the starting on pain in the pain in the ass 2 chainsaws and weed wacker I own to start even after long months of storage though I usually run them dry at the end of each season. I keep the gas filled to the top on my Harley over the winter but I use shell premium nitro 93 with two types of long storage fuel additives, a little marvel mystery oil and Lucas fuel additive. If the tank were left empty I'd be concerned it would rust. But often I siphon more than half of the tank out and put it in my old Chevy then run the bike and top off with fresh shell premium in spring. Works good so far: 29 year old superglide. Short of 2 strokes, I've never had a problem with a little corn liquor in my gas. Honestly, I don't see what people are so passionate against it. I've had all kinds of 4 stroke engines that get run seasonally and I don't have issues.

Actually me either with the four strokes. But those nasty little two strokes are out to get me.

Foolishly I spent maybe 8 hours over a two day period trying to start a five or more year old chainsaw that had less than 40 hours on it. Changed the plug. Checked ignition and boot. Cleaned it like new and lubricated. Put in fresh properly treated two stroke mix fuel. Removed the new air filter and sprayed starter fluid into the carb. Two days not even a pop!

Brought it in for service. Cost me $199 plus tax to have it repaired. A new one cost $299 plus tax. Mechanic found both cylinder seals blown. Husqvarna medium size chainsaw. Also had to buy a duplicate second one while I waited three weeks for the old one to be fixed because I just had an arborist fell an enormous maple tree in the front yard that destroyed the entire septic system on the house I bought only three years before. ( the prior owner falsified the recent septic inspection he just had and my at time of purchase septic inspector was a friend of the realtor and wanted the sale to go through with no problems! ) NEVER use anyone recommended by your own realtor. I was moving far out of state and knew no one so I relied on the realtors suggestions. Lesson learned. Cost us $26,000 to remove and reinstall a brand new entire septic system with an upgrade and bring it up to the 2013 code. ( house was 40 years old ). And was unable to prosecute the old couple who sold it as they moved somewhere down south and left no forwarding address plus lawyer said it would cost to much in legal fees

To conclude I too only have fuel issues with two stroke stuff Dannyblues

I used to have problems with 2 strokes, but I think that's a problem with the fact they are 2 strokes. The oil just gums up everything. To prevent problems, I just run the gas out of the machine. Seems to help..... of course, I don't have any two strokes at the moment. I probably to replace my chainsaw that was lost in the flood.

Sorry to hear you were flooded but Louisiana is noted for that now sadly. Climate change or weather wierding is what I call it has changed weather worldwide. It's just the planet going through a warm cycle. 5000 years ago my property was under a mile of ice. Haven't been there but I'd love to go. I love the blues. I play blues harmonica and used to jam and sing in a band too with my blues harp. I like catfish unless they are too muddy. Would love to try gator, crawdads, and Louisiana shrimp and oysters and southern fish. Would love to go to New Orleans too

Had an uncle from loosyannah and couldn't understand a word that man said. What a pronounced local heavy accent!!! Yeah Louisiana is a place everyone should visit ( when the levys hold up ). Dannyblues

I emailed Casey's General Store and asked about Top Tier Fuel. Below is what they sent me.
I still get 24 to 26 mpg on there fuel. (87 octane 10% Ethanol.)

    Hi Everett,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. We currently do not offer top tier gasoline.

Casey's General Stores, Inc. is considered and "unbranded" retailer of gasoline, which gives us the ability to purchase from over two dozen different suppliers.

Casey's selects our suppliers primarily based on quality and price of their product.

    Thank you,

I think Costco is a toptier gas. That means it has to meet the much higher criteria than the federal government demands for detergents etc across all its grade levels. Even the cheapest gas here -Valero- is top tier but others you'd think are- aren't on the list -yet.
Sunoco is intoducing a new fuel line. Top tier. As Sunoco was in the past one of the only or few gas retailers that refined its own products and was once the hot ticket item at 94 at the pump ( now down to 93 here) and big time race fuel sponsors maybe I'll go back and try it when I know more
Right now shell nitro premium 93 is my fuel of choice. Now at $3.05 a gallon at last fill up yesterday. Dannyblues
