After running it for some time now, I don't have any need to fill that gap. The flares are very stable with just the clips holding them on - and cleaning out the gap after going through mud is no big deal with the power washer. Some day I would like to do liners, but that's on the list of things to do when I run out of other things to do... :)

Did you remove the flares to make the cuts? I'm interested to see/know the process....

I got pretty sick of running around without liners. Ended up cutting up the old ones and riveting them in, worked pretty well. It helped stiffen up things too. Things stay a LOT cleaner.

I guess that doesn't help for the flare to fender portion but mine are capped so??

Also, 315s barely rubbed the flare, I'd have gone 2.5" if I had known. I don't think 3" is needed though.

    Just my experiences...

I did the same mod, but was wondering if anyone has tried folding a 1/4 to 1/2" lip on the fender so a person could rivet or screw some plastic molding to fill the void, and give a little support to the flair?

Getting ready to do this to mine, so you recommend a jigsaw over a dremel tool?

Jigsaw. Nice new blade cuts through the fender like butter.

I found that rubber door seal works really well to fill the gap between the fender flare and the fender. I used a little silicone just to keep things stuck. Looks good too. You can order it from Napa
