I'm getting ready to buy a W4500NEX to upgrade my 2017 SR5 Taco and have a couple questions first:

    1) Would the W4500NEX sound significantly better if I replaced the speakers as well? I mostly listen to podcasts and other spoken audio and I've heard that the stock speakers don't have a good higher frequency response

    2) Any need for an amp if I'm just running the stock or replacement speakers without a sub? I'm not going for volume, but clarity.

I've tried reading through this thread (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/premium-audio-upgrade-for-less-than-250.510424/) but it's currently 219 pages.

    Thanks for any advice

Stock speakers are not great quality. I would replace all speakers with combatable wattage. Your deck is 50watts peak so about half that is RMS. Crutchfield great place for speakers.

I'm definitely buying from Crutchfield. Might as well go all in on some speakers if I'm spending that much, I suppose.

I'd say, you make that decision. Get the headunit listen to the radio and see if you like it or not. I have a 4400 in mine I only did the subaru tweeter upgrade and it's been great.
