Time to fire your GC and buy yourself a laser pointer.

Down here people just hire some Mexicans and then vote for a wall. No budgets involved there, either.

Got the majority of the compacted infill done plus backfilled around the foundation with some of the overburden we stockpiled from the excavation .

We had a monsoon here last night and it was pouring rain this morning so opted to use 3" minus crushed stone for the bulk of our infill as we could compact it without it turning to loon shit .

7 dump truck loads in and 3 out

We also extended all the electrical conduit to the front right corner of the building save 1 that sweeps around the corner and heads to the rear retaining wall area to power the septic pump chamber , and added a 2" sched 40 PVC pump line for the septic and a 1" sched 40 PVC for water .

All the utilities will be extended from the front corner to a nearby service pole at a later date .

Tomorrow we are going to trench the under slab interior conduit and dust extractor lines that go to the tablesaw island , top dress the slab area and fine tune our grade with some 3/4" crushed pit run and dig the rest of the post columns for the outside shed roof section

It's so tiny. Where's the real equipment go? Or is this just one of those dead carcass shops?

I think he's referring to metal working shops being far larger. Lots of very specialized tools, breaks, and the like. Dead carcass being an insulting way to insinuate that you enjoy fondling dead trees.

    Just the messenger...

I have and use a laser pointer. I resemble that remark.

Mexicans are optional here, we use Guatemalans, Cubans, Mexicans, white dudes, Barack dudes and every other race. Except Asians. They’re on the computers or calculators. Smart bastards that they are.

Finished our sub slab grading today .

I'm running an electrical conduit for power and a 4" pvc line to my tablesaw island for a dust collection system . For the dust collection line under the slab I'm using this 4" Rigid PVC electrical conduit because I can get long radius elbows which is better for dust collection than standard plumbing elbows that constrict air flow .

    4" long radius elbow

Because the conduit runs below the slab , it would be going from conditioned space (inside) , to unconditioned space (under slab) , to conditioned space (inside) , and I want to keep it in conditioned space so I made a box out of 2 1/2" R12 styrofoam that we put in the trench , draped 6 mil vapour barrier in the box , and then dropped our 4" PVC dust collector line inside .

The electrical conduit and dust collector sweeps terminate side by side near centre of slab where they will emerge in the tablesaw outfeed portion of the island .

The styro box sides are deliberately left tall on install and will be cut to height of the sub slab insulation when its installed . At that point the vapour barrier in the box will be connected and taped to the rest of the vapour barrier under the slab so there is a continuous vapour and air barrier . The box will be filled with the same 3/4"- material we top dressed the sub-grade with .

After we finished the slab infill we also dug the rest of the post holes for the shed roof overhang

How was the slab reinforced? You're probably going to get some cracking at the reentrant corners at the styrofoam trough.

Slab hasn't been poured yet. Based on his footings, he'll have plenty of rebar.

Run them diagonally at the end of the trough, the concrete will REALLY want to crack there.
