I’m surprised you didn’t mortice those square washers into the post. Any reason why not, other than the amount of work required?

Not the look I'm going for , trying for a turn of the century timber framed factory look . All hardware will be black eventually .

Timbers are all moved in , I'm officially tired lol

Everything from dunnage level up is earmarked for my client build , that job has a lot of short timbers so I am able to use up some of my long timbers that are too twisted to use at their existing length

 

Actually did something shop build related this weekend ~

Made countertops for my bathroom / utility room cabinets and coated the cabinets and tops with 3 coats of polyurethane

Plumber comes tomorrow to install boiler , hydronic manifold , circ pump etc so it was last call at the saloon to get cabinets sealed

Sink box will get a finished applied gable later in case anyone was horrified by the exposed screws and kickspace platform

 

Bit of a late start today but we got boiler mostly installed , finish up the rest of the outstanding plumbing on Wed

got a temporary cut off station set up in the shop so I can start picking away at the soffits in my spare time

Want to get soffits and siding done before rainy season sets in here if possible

Kind of a bare bones set up but I've made do with less . I'm going to add some plywood support wings to either side of the saw

 

Boring update ~

not pic-worthy but today I re-sanded the exterior posts and timbers so I can coat them before I start the soffits

 

Got the outside timber work coated today with Cloverdale Sunfast

That's good stuff. We've been using Sunfast on everything down here for years.

 

yep , been using it for about 10 years on exterior stuff

 

Moved the cedar 1x4 t&g into the shop I'm going to use for my soffits from a couple random storage areas it was in and organized it into millings and lengths . This material is left over from a couple different jobs so the pile in the foreground is a slightly different milling than the pile in the background . I'm going to calculate how much of each I have , may work out i can do the smaller soffit side of building with the smaller background pile and use the larger pile in the foreground for the extended overhang side of the shop
