    A thing or two...
Are the soffits going to be vented? Will you just drill holes or cut slots for the venting?

yes , vented soffit . I usually install a continuous soffit vent at the wall side of the soffit that is hidden with a flat trim

So it looks like I'm going to be 100sqft short of soffit material so could end up dealing with 3 different millings haha FML

Looks like an opportunity to showcase some 'accent soffit' trim work!

no 1x4 fine grain flush face t&g cedar at my supplier for my missing 100 sqft , but I do have a bunch of left over bundles of 3' 1x6 fine grain V4E t&g cedar I can remill to match the 1x4 and will use that for my 64' of 3' gable overhang pieces which will give me enough sqft of total material

That would be nice but part of this exercise is to use up as much of my stored lumber hoarder collection as possible

I hear that, which is why I took another monster project. 60 acre 55+ rental community. Just started grubbing and clearing Monday. Couldnt turn down the $30k plus raise for me to run it. Bonus is its 30 min from the house. No fucking traffic to deal with.

    No progress update ~

Went and paid $300 Friday to renew my original building permit for another year . The original 2 year permit was due to expire . They only allow for a 1 year extension , so I'm officially working to a deadline now haha

Dragged all my 1x6 cedar t&g V4E that has volunteered to become 1x4 out of another lumber squirrel hole I had so now I should have enough material once I re-mill it all to match and mate together

Is there flooring down or is it just a slab under the protective cardboard. I would think you just have a finished slab under it, just wondering why the cardboard if its just concrete. Unless you didnt feel like scrubbing the concrete when you are done with construction. Knowing you thats probably the case.

the finished slab is finished floor , that is just some old rolls of floor protector I had that I put down so I didn't have to clean up drywall mud and paint

Update is I haven't worked on shop in months

i did however decide to just buy enough 1x6 soffit material to do the shop rather than re-mill the various millings I had

    Gotcha.
Work comes first, I get that. Cant wait to see it, I am going to be building my own as well here in the next year or there abouts. I'm doing mine out of a metal building and I'll insulate and wall the interior out. I live in FL so an exterior metal bldg would be better suited and I'll reinforce the wind load side of it to my satisfaction. I am more interested in the layout and interior finishing with all your tools and what not.

Actual work on the shop is happening

I'm off work from my client jobs till Jan 03 , brought home a bunch of tools and I'm trying to get my shop soffits done .

I originally was going to try to use up a bunch of 1x4 t&g clear cedar I already had but that involved re-milling 1/2 of it so that it would all look the same and fit together . After much deliberation I opted to purchase some 1x6 STK (standard tight knot) cedar t&g . I had to pay about $2K CDN but I justified that with the time savings and my limited timeframe away from paying work to get this done . Ideally I will use up the 1x4 on client jobs and recoup my money.

So I'm super stoked to actually be working on the shop again , unfortunately we are experiencing daytime highs of -7C (19F) right now so progress is likely to be pretty slow

My temporary work set up inside for cutting alongside the stack of 1x6 cedar I bought

I'm not sure I've ever seen a 'furniture grade' shop build before. But it certainly appears you have one. Awesome!
