The Charlie Chaplin silent film thing might just be a good idea, considering his “real” name. I mean, who wants to listen to all that banging, nailing, and screwing?

 

as long as they get to the point and don't give a running commentary about their whole day and this and that - crap that adds nothing to the topic at hand. It's like some of those facebook video's where they ramble while getting a cup of coffee, or putting their hair up, or getting tools out.... have the stuff you need out on the table!!!

 

This weekend's progress ~

4 of the 6 false timber ends needed to be ripped to 22.5 degrees to match the 5 in 12 roof pitch as they install to the underside of the gable end rafters , I did that with the 16" circular saw




The 6 false timber ends in sets of 3 for front and back of building . Pitched topped ones mount to underside of gable end overhang rafters in line with the exterior walls , flat top ones go at the ridge to underside of projecting structural ridge beam

After taking this picture I coated them all with Cloverdale Sunfast



Finished the soffit that was not installed to the right of the post and beam line (you can see it unfinished in first picture of me ripping the top of false beam above)



Also got about 1/2 of the opposite side of the building done

 

Yay! It's like a new season just released after a long wait.

 

Exactly, only it was like Bladerunner 2......with 35 years between the two...

 

Or the 14 years we waited for Incredibles 2

Pretty much . Installing towel bars etc and rebuilding pump house but they are moved in the house and I have passed final occupancy inspection

 

Pumphouse you say? I gather this is not going to be a dank 2x4 doghouse, bound to rot on a dirt floor, and full of spider webs. Inquiring minds will want to see what you make of a Pumphouse. It could be its own thread!

 

11'6 x 8'6 , full foundation and 4" slab . Will have 800gal cistern tank inside plus the monodrive constant pressure system , UV filter , sediment filters and softener

 

Hopefully your aquifier got sufficiently recharged this spring.

Putting us all to shame, or me at least. I cut out a piece of plywood the other day and I could have gone surfing on the line.

Granted it was a quick jigsaw cut and it was covered up so nobody will ever see it, but still.

 

But, now you and everyone in here knows...

 

Got back side level soffits and vent completed today

next up a bit of backing in the gables and install false timber ends , then soffit up the gables



Today is Canada Day so I had Kraft Dinnah for lunch

yes its been a long day and only Kraft Dinnah could calm my nerves

 

Tough to get a decent picture with all the scaffolding up and in the way but I got the rear false timbers up , decided to start on the back to work out any issues before doing the front that will be seen all the time

worked out well , nothing to worry about , had to apply a bit of the Comfortboard that was missing to install the ridge piece and add a bit of blocking but other than that , no surprises



Moving over to the front to install the false timbers there then I will start applying the gable end soffits , front first with the better pieces , anything marginal will go on the back side

 

Is the Comfortboard ok like that without siding or house wrap?
