slab hasn't been poured yet but runs over styro box , ie top of box is at underside of slab in plane with the top of sub slab insulation . Box will be filled with 3/4"- gravel , concrete does not fill box but spans over it , only thing that sticks through slab are the pipes

yes , hydronic heating . Entire sub-grade gets covered in 2 1/2" R-12 styrofoam and a 15mil vapour barrier prior to pour . I've already cast styrofoam into the foundation walls to insulate the slab edge

Good to hear. Please tell me you are going to use a boiler for the heat source and not a water heater.

Only got a part day in today but all the 2 1/2" R-12 XPS insulation is fitted and taped , dust collector pipe coffin cut down to insulation plane and vapour barrier in box taped to top of insulation plane

10" sewer pipe in centre of slab will be cut down to top of slab height and will house 4" dust collector line and 2" electrical conduit for tablesaw island . It will have a lid .

Bathroom area is on hold till plumber can install sub slab plumbing lines

Tomorrow I will install the vapour barrier , rebar and remesh

Didn't get all my remesh tied in today but got the vapour barrier down and taped , rebar cut and laid out and started tying in the remesh

Reinforcing is 10m rebar 18" on centre each way with 6"x6" welded wire mesh tied on top . Hydronic tubing will be attached to the remesh .

Close up of the tablesaw island utilities sump

2" electrical conduit and 4" dust collector line with grounding cable

I poured some concrete grout in the base of the sump so it won't move around at all when we pour the slab and also so it will be rigid when I cut it to height

    Back at it again tomorrow

Bathroom sub-slab plumbing installed and inspected

Hydronic tubing installed on 9" centres , rebar chaired , pretty much ready to pour

Pour is set for Friday morning , so I have a bit of time to finish up the last details on the slab

I cut my tablesaw utilities sump to height and made a plywood lid for it for the pour

The lid extends an inch beyond the sump riser so I will end up with a cast in depression in the slab for the finished lid to rest on

Plywood pour lid is wrapped in vapour barrier tape so concrete will not bond to it

Lid in place . Sump riser was cut to height determined with rotary laser so top of 18mm plywood lid is top of slab

Friday forecast is for 30% chance of showers and we also didn't want the slab in full sun as it gets about 6-7 hours of full sun on it so I put Operation Big Top Peewee into effect

The tablesaw riser lid worked perfectly as a location for my centre tent pole haha

We pour a few hundred yards a day in the southwest. Today the temps were around 108 with about 15% humidity. Just about the worst possible conditions to pour concrete in.

we did big coloured border / exposed aggregate panel driveway job a couple summers ago , was in full sun , hot and wind picked up just we started pouring , bleed water was all leaving fast and we were doing a sand finish on the borders so we had retarder down so no rehydrating the concrete lol
