    Yeah.
Well, hurry up. Kidding, I think I'll be disappointed when it is done and the updates end.

So, you are doing shingles at the top and metal siding below? What are you tossing around for the feature panel? I like the idea of something in wood to accent the other wood features. Maybe some inlaid wood panel design.

yes , cedar shingles above transition trim (everywhere its currently yellow) and corrugated metal below

I think I landed on a 1x6 horizontal clear cedar v joint in there , its a nod to the soffit boards but being horizontal with the v joint shadow line I think it will look cool , mitred grain wrapped corner , no corner trim there

Working on my corner window wrap sets today ~

I'm using a couple 8mm sipo dominoes to reinforce the head and sill trims where they wrap around the corner

Using a little jig I made and my Makita cordless router to mill slots in the back of the head trims that accept the "fin" of the end dams on the flashings over the windows

All slotted , ready for assembly ~

I had to dung out the shop a bit to rig up a table to assemble these 2 large window trim sets and it was about 10 seconds after I took this picture when I said out loud to myself "how the fuck am I going to get this up on the scaffold , in place and attach 2 of these together by myself ?"

"it was at this moment that he knew , he fucked up"

    lol

K , got the one trim set I have built up for a test fit without any massive drama but having it there has prompted a change of plans ~

I'm going to take this set back in to the shop and stain it and the 2 other window trims I have made up , then install them and THEN build and try to join the second side of this window wrap

I tried dry fitting the top and bottom trims of the second set to this unit after it was up and there are too many variables with things moving around because they are not attached in their final resting position . In order the fine tune and join the two corner wraps , glue and clamp the domino connections etc , one side has to be solidly fastened to the building first

    Stay tuned

Trim sets all coated , should be able to put these three up tomorrow

Had to use all the sawhorses I had at the shop so I ended up with a Goldilocks and the 3 bears set up .

Too short , too tall , & just right lol

    Progress update for today ~

    ~ slept in
~ had to go get some materials
~ installed the 3 trim sets I stained last night
~ fit the top and bottom trims of 2nd 1/2 of the wraparound trim set to the 1st after I had it fixed in place
~ got the 2nd 1/2 of the wraparound mostly assembled
~ was tired so stopped working

Tomorrow I'll finish building the remaining wraparound trim set and coat it which means it can't go up till Mon

I'll probably do some siding prep in the meantime

Wow that's gonna look great with some quality vinyl siding around it. o_O
Seriously tho, the only sad part about this entire project, is 20-30 years from now when you decide to move on from it, it's not going to be fully appreciated the level of detail you're putting into a 'garage'.
