So after waiting almost 3 weeks for the sill and jamb stock I ordered for my man door it was supposed to be picked up Tuesday and at my door shop Thursday so I arranged to drop my temporary steel door slab off Friday so it could get hung in my permanent jamb and I could finish my siding around the door this weekend

Got a text Thursday morning that my sill and jamb stock was actually still in Vancouver at the manufacturer's warehouse and I likely wouldn't see them till at least next Thursday . Several swear words later , I hopped in my truck and went down to the door shop to see what we could come up with because I need to finish this exterior siding .

In a cob-webby corner they had a length of anodized sill that was 8 1/2" depth (my wall thickness is 9 1/2") which will work because it fully covers the top of my foundation wall by over an inch but they only had VG Fir jamb in 6 1/2" width so I need to add a jamb extension so thats what I was up to today

Dug through a bunch of random left over VG Fir t&g flooring I had , found some pieces that were a decent grain and colour match , ripped and thickness planed them to the correct dimensions for my jamb extensions and then attached them with 8mm dominoes and glue

tomorrow I can coat the jamb with Sunfast and hopefully get it installed this week between a couple other little jobs I have to be at

no , my permit extension expires soon and I need to get my final .

Once it expires I would have to resubmit and pay for a whole new permit that would have to go through all the hoops again (local zoning approval , septic permits , proof of site clear of archeology , plan check with engineering sign off , land surveyor siting etc)

Jamb installed , temporary steel door back in place , man door trims milled , coated with sunfast and installed and final 3 corrugated panels fitted , just need to finish screwing them off in the morning

This receptacle in the middle of the last sheet that needed to tuck in to the j moulding at top while simultaneously tuck behind the metal corner trim and wood side trim of the door was a monster pain in the ass

shout out to R&R Buildings on Youtube for the lesson in mitred metal j trim , I learned how to do this from him a couple years back when I did my first corrugated metal siding install

    Siding is now officially complete

It looks so good it'll be a shame to tear the front back out for your big doors.

just have to unscrew the panels , no ripping and tearing required

I actually think that front wall looks a bit awkward in its proportions without the doors in there to break up the mass of the corrugated

I do like the way the weathered zinc coloured corrugated works with the natural cedar though which is funny because its only this colour because I bought an abandoned siding package at my local lumber yard 4 years ago haha

I thought the same, looks clean, but is a sea of corrugated with no breaks.

Same exact thought, I figured those would get smashed like 3-4 times a year. Those slim or recessed LED flood lights would probably be nice in there.

I have three of them in my mechanical room and another couple in the garage so they have their place.

Their place is not on your shop, though!

I don't think a wire cage would help them much, either!

The bare bulbs aren't staying , they are just providing some light for now , light fixtures are pretty low priority right now , trying to get my final on the building

plus I already smashed one off with my head when I was doing the soffits
