Got the Benchdogs UK fence assembled , mounted to the cutting top and calibrated

Made a few test cuts to dial it in , its pretty cool




The version I got is 1800mm long with the optional right hand fence , has a dual metric / imperial scale , under rail support and comes with 3 flag stops for repeatable cuts



All ready to start milling cabinet components

 

How did you lay out the holes in the cutting top?

By hand, with very careful measuring, or did you have some sort of jig/guide?

I like that system.

 

its extremely accurate and fairly quick once you get the hang of it

 

I see Lee Valley has them. Not overly expensive - seems like make tops could be a side gig.

 

make sure to get the Mk2 version , it has significant improvements over the Mk1 system including the ability to drill 32mm and 48mm offset holes

 

Did a test run on my cabinet building set up with a small closet organizer box for my inlaw's house . Got to use the crosscut flag stops and fence to cut repeatable lengths with the track saw , dominoed the cabinet box together and set up and used the LR32 system and track to drill shelf pin system holes . Learned a bit about how small the tolerances are for using the LR32 set up with correctly cut panel lengths as mine were not correctly cut lol

overall a good exercise to work out a few bugs

 

I understand why you drilled the backside - definitely a good idea.

Did you use the guide system, for precision? Or just the pilot bit on the 20mm, since it was the backside, and you were just drilling to prevent tearout?

 

I just used the 20mm bit in a drill by hand , use the 3mm pilot on the 20mm bit to centre it in the 3mm starter holes and just barely score the veneer ply about 1mm / 1/16"
