If I remember correctly the 2.4 only came in 5-lug 2wd trucks. The 2wd prerunner which could come with the 2.7 is a 6-lug truck.

5lug trucks have entirely different suspension and brake components than the 6lug and they do not directly swap over

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
5 lug and the Prerunner are completely different front Suspension

With vehicles this old a 5 lug with a 2.7 swapped in is quite possible.

Say you had a totaled 4x4 with a good drivetrain and an undamaged PreRunner with high mileage and a tired engine and/or transmission. The swap would be relatively easy, as a PreRunner is basically a 4x4 without the transfercase and front diff. Literally everything else is the same. Standard 2WD Tacomas have a 5-lug bolt pattern instead of 6, and a different rear axle and suspension.

    4 run, 2 don't
    No.

The 2.7 came standard in Prerunners or 4x4s.

The 3.4 was an option in 5 lugs.

The 2.4 came standard in 5 lugs.
