thats what I thought. Then why do people buy Prerunners only to turn around and spend $6K to make it look like a 4x4?

Burg- i was refering to BBQboys comment on making a prerunner look like a 4x4 sorry was being sarcastic and should have quoted

BBQboy- what is wrong with a 4x2 vehicle using that equipment? there are many people that use 4x2's for desert racing and such...4x4 is not needed and just extra weight

i took my prerunner out and i doesnt even have a locker and was hanging with the 4x4s, the prerunner offroads with lockers can do quite a bit with a good driver... at the same time ur asking why do people put 22's on a 85 crown vic, why do 4x4s that never see dirt have mud tires on them

4x4 not always needed. Plus without the front axels and drivetrain components, you can get a long travel kit for a lot more suspension travel, making things like jumps more accessable without extremely serious mods:

Well in my neck of the woods we don't desert race. It is mountains or muddy roads.

Hahaha. I di have a Prius as an everyday car but I have a FJ40 as my off road/trail vehicle but sometimes I want a modern trail/off road/highway/around town vehicle.
