Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
4x4 is for more than just that. And I would like to see someone try and climb the local mountain road in 2x4 with a rear locker.

Fair enough. I guess people who bought PreRunners and made that choice after careful deliberation decided they don't need those extra drive wheels where ever they live.

I had a 4x4 Taco 20 years ago and enjoyed going off road. but the guys I went with had little Suzukis, Jeeps and LandCrusiers and I could not go where they went. There is a need and limit for every thing. People chose what they want. Others chose only what they need.

Toyota saw the market for a 2WD with the height of a 4WD and an optional locker and the PreRunner sold millions without the TRD package.

My Dad drives a PreRunner and likes it just fine for what he drives in.

BTW, The Tacoma model's have only been around for 16 years.

Yeah I know the "Tacoma" name has been around since 95. I had a Toyota "pick up" they only had 4x4 and regular trucks . Mine was a 4x4 and I drove it off road and to Brain Head, Utah in the snow skiing. Pre Gen one I guess.

Yes! A very nice rig indeed, I'd love one with the 3VZ in it to run around with and modify but I've got a 2003 To mock up and run with and don't mind at all!

Would it offend you to know that the truck you pictured it exactly what My Grandmother used to rock?

Hell no. BY now you should know I am not easily offended. LOL.

Your grandmother had great taste and I hope a lot of fun with it. I certainly did.

Toyota service was top notch in those days. The only issue I had was a leaky head gasket at 80K and Toyota actually replaced head gaskets on that truck free and recalled ALL V6s because they had a bad run for a few years. I had friend with over 100K on his and Toyota replaced his as well. No TSB No safety issue Just a reliability recall. Toyota contacted everyone who owned one whether they bought it new or like me bought it used and had Delaers replace both head gaskets. I had my water Pump and timing belt replaced as well. (I paid for the parts only) Toyota was a MUCH better company then and they are still living on that REP....

Today people are fighting to get the most basic things fixed WITH a TSB... Many young people today don;t realize how great Toyota WAS and why some of us who have been around awhile see Ford as an equal anymore. Its not only because Ford got better.....
