Try crutchfield. You can put your make and model info in and narrow it down. Amazon does this also. Not sure about ebay.

Hey man I found some one here in Tn that has the front and rear shocks and springs off his trd sport . He asked me if I would need the leaf springs but his is the double cab or w/e and mines the reg cab . 150 for all the shocks and springs . Should I be good with my original leafs on the back . They are bilstein 4600 and I’m just curious how much lift this will give my pre runner . Never done a lift just want to make sure I’m not buying more then I need . Or if I’ll have to by new control arms and leafs to make his work .

 

haha yea just from what I’ve read the dash install kit is what makes the CD player fit right . So I’ll figure it out . Last time I bought a CD player there wasnt double dins or touchscreens So wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything lol . Wouldn’t even have this trouble if my truck had an aux hookup smh

 

The shocks and springs will work. The front springs off of his truck will be the same that you have on your truck, so you wont get any lift from them. The rear leafs are also the same, so you wont need those and the shocks will work perfectly with them (the rear shocks wont provide any lift also). The only difference that the leafs might have is that they might be a 3+1 pack and you might have a 2+1 pack. My 09 came with the 2+1 pack and i had the leaf spring recall done, but the extra leaf in the 3+1 pack didnt provide any lift, so youre still good as far as fitment goes. The only advantage that the 3+1s have is that they have retaining clips on the sides that keep the leafs from moving side to side in the even that one of them would break. Hence why toyota had to recall the 2+1s because some of them were breaking and rubbing into peoples gas tanks and increasing the risk of fires

Yea I did have to take my truck in for the recall and they replaced all the leafs in the back . So the only adavantage of doing this is for better ride quality? . I thought the trds set higher then the reg pre runner so I was thinking it would lift my truck some . That was the main reason I was interested in buying them . If it’s all gonna stay the same height then I wonder if it’s worth the money to go ahead and put the shocks in front and back

 

Yeah if you're going to replace the rear shocks, the only advantage would be better ride quality. The TRDs and just regular/sr5 prerunners all had the same ride height. if you are wanting a lift out back, youre going to want either an aal or a different leaf pack, and you probably wont want the 4600s, but rather something that can accommodate a lifted application like bilstein 5100s or something else depending on the amount of lift.

Probably not worth the hassle to swap them out if you're wanting a lift

 

Yea man i really appreciate you schooling me on all this . There’s so much that goes into it that I never realized esp when it come to the geometry and all that . I’m really thinking my best bet to keep my ride quality and have the lifted look would be a body lift which I’m sure entails a bunch of stuff but I think ur right I’ll lkeep my stock suspension and try a different route . From what I’ve read about leveling kits or spacers is that it the cheapest at first but cause havoc on ur suspension later on . So I would rather not mess with any of the suspension since I won’t be going off road and just do a body lift . Now I just gotta see what all it entails on the body lift . I’m sure certain things will need to be extended to work but it’s just seems like the better route that’s fits my needs

 

No problem. If it was my truck though, id still stick with a suspension lift.. i dont know much about body lifts, but i do know that i wouldnt put one on my truck..

If it was me, i go with something like the icon 3 leaf progressive aal with the overload removed. That would yield you ~1.5-2” of lift out back, maybe a little more since you have a reg cab and theyre lighter.. and then up front get something like OME 884s with bilstein 5100s set on zero.. that would also yield you about 2” lift. Not sure what your budget is, but i would avoid body lift like the plague.. if you are insistent on the BL, stick with something small like a 1”..

I see huge trucks around my area and they have body lifts exceeding 3-4” and the tops their back bumpers are sitting that far below the tailgates.. that gap would make me sick lol

 

Haha man that’s what I just read it messes all it seems up . I honestly just want my truck to sit level my truck has a 1 inch rake I think and I have no idea what the best / cheapest route would be . I mean 1 inch isn’t a lot so there has to be a way to level the front . A leveling kit is fine just watched all these videos dissing them

 

There's nothing really wrong with a leveling kit, it's just going to ride harsher. if you do plan to level it up from using spacers, just remember that the spacer will provide twice the amount of lift as it's thickness. so a half inch thick spacer will provide an inch of lift up front. I personally don't see anything wrong with running one this size, especially until your factory shocks are worn out and you plan to replace them with something better. How many miles do you have on your truck? just noticed it's an 08, so it might be time for some new shocks anyways

 

That’s what I was thinking I mean 1 inch shouldn’t change anything to much and i just hit 150k last week . Spacer seems like my best bet then ?

 

Spacer would be the cheapest option, but the best option would be to just lift the front with 5100s and 884s. that should level it since front to back there is typically 2" of rake. Then you could find some cheap take off 4600s for the rear and have all newer shocks. At 150k miles, id say your shocks are pretty worn, so I wouldn't want to run a spacer on them personally

 

That’s sounds like a good plan to me what would that setup cost ball park ?

I bought my dad some 5100s and toytec 620s last Christmas, and I think it was about 500 bucks assembled and shipped to my door. I did the install for him and all he had to do was get it aligned. I bought them from wheelers offroad, but shipping was a hefty cost.. if you don't plan on doing the install yourself, you might just want to buy the 5100s and coils and take them somewhere and let them install them for you. The back shocks are a real piece of cake to install, just two bolts. Its a great learning process to start wrenching by doing the backs if you've never worked on your truck before. that's what I started out doing on mine.

 

Yea that’s not bad I’ll def have to save up but a lot cheaper then I was expecting when it’s all said and done I’ll post pics lol just

Hey man what the purpose for the coolant water bypass pipe . Is it needed after a certain upgrade ? Just not sure if it’s something I should upgrade

 

Which pipe are you talking about? Cant say ive ever heard of that one..
