Like any kind of offroading momentum, weight, and tire grip play the biggest factor. I know for a fact that a rear locker and some good mud tires can get you out of most anything. I had a lifted Jeep TJ with a rear detroit and swampers and hardly ever put it into 4 wheel drive when offroading.

Did anyone forget about lifting a 2WD because of flooding and construction?! There is constant flooding and construction in Houston and I like the added height for those types of obstacles.

    Things and stuff and such
I had a hard time finding the exact 4x4 I wanted. I found a prerunner with the options I wanted and with very low miles so I decided to buy it. I wish I had found a 4x4 but at the same time I'm glad I am not tempted to take it on rough trails and beat on it. I have a K5 blazer that I will fix up to take offroad, or sell it and buy an older Toyota 4 wheel drive.

I love my truck she gets me where I need to go. But at times I wish I had 4WD the locker does ok though.

Have you ever used the locker and went through mud? If so how effective is it?
