    Toyota claims the 2009 Long Beds are only 55 pounds heavier than the Short Beds.

    How is this possible?

    Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
    the bed is composite w/ metal bed sides....lighter than a normal metal and metal bed...and ur only talking about a one foot difference

    I'm thinking about the longer frame. Steel is a lot heavier than it appears.

    I know the bed is light.

    still only a foot. the frame under the cab isnt fully boxed either
