I never thought of asking on here. I have a Prerunner (not a trd)

I don't offroad much, but I live in the country on family property. Sometimes it can't be avoided. The only times I've ever gotten stuck are when it rains and things are slick. I've never sunk it, usually the wheels just spin on the surface because it can't get grip.

How would you get out without having to call a relative for help?

The most practical thing would be a good quality set of chains that are for mud use. Keep them in the truck and when you get stuck just put them on (or chain up before going off trail). Even two mud tires would cost as much as a good set of chains. And for how infrequent it sounds, a locker probably isn't worth it for you if you're still going to be running non-aggressive tires. I've seen chains on a 2WD go through so stuff that I surely thought 4WD would be required.

Thanks, man! Those maxtrax look pretty sweet, but they are a little to expensive. But chains sound like a really good idea.

Better tires, come-a-long, and either a selectable locker or limited slip diff.

Or trade in for a 4x4.
