Sounds like he's got everything..... except all the fab work. He's going to have to rework the rear drive shaft and the cross member. If he can balance that drive shaft, good for him. If not, it's gonna cost. If he can fab up the new cross member good for him. If not it's gonna cost. No need for the ecu if he's using the FJ Case. Gonna have to bring the shifter into the cab. You can do it either by twins or single. Then there is the little issue of making the front diff work. If you wanna spend the hours upon hours and days upon days to get it to work with an ECU, more power to you. My hats off to whoever does that. But it's EXTREMELY unnecessary especially when you can just use a switch, if you know what your doing and why it works.

Anyway, I have all the info up on my site on how to accomplish this swap. I want everyone who wants to do it to be able to find all the information they need in one place.

But it aint gonna happen for $2500.00. It just wont.

I'd also argue that if you're going to drop $4-5K swapping in a stock 4x4 IFS set up; you might as well drop some more money and go SAS if you really intend to wheel the vehicle.

Thats what Ray did. We did his swap from 2wd to 4wd and he had it just a year before he went full "Beast Edition".

    Rays 2wd to 4wd conversion.

He didn't skimp on anything when we built his rig. Full RockSolidToys Beast Edition.

Rays 2006 RST Beast Edition Tacoma.

Thanks for the replys all, especially the correction on the transmission model info and links. Ive already read thru 6 or 7 build threads on here, TTORA, and the Tacoma magazine, just had a few specifics that I was unsure of or missed in my research.

I never mentioned price/budget details or concerns in my post, but an awful lot of folks here are very judgemental about spending money that isnt theirs. Id hate to see what the response would have been if id ask questions about installing the $5,000 TRD Supercharger.

    Thanks

    Scoty

Yeah, that would be another crazy debate. 4.7 or 5.7 instead of supercharger, or maybe even an LS motor swap, you name it.

Do whats right for you. if you like your truck now and have mods on it already, go for it. If it would make more sense to trade it in or sell it and buy a 4x4 instead, look at that option.

I was told I would never be able to build my truck and if I did it would be too big to wheel anywhere. Then I was told that a toyota dual t case setup wouldn't last under my big truck. Then I was told that putting 4.7 gears in front of my t case was pure madness. Last but certainly not least I was told that I couldn't daily drive a solid axle truck with dual case's sitting on 40" tires. Sure glad I didn't listen to them:cool:
