Are the top bell housing bolts accessible from the top side of the engine? Seen it done on first gens but not sure if that's more trouble than it's worth for us here.

I tried but couldn’t. Had to use 4 ft of extensions behind the transmission lol one thing to note, it’s MUCH easier to get the bolts off than on bc the prerunner transmission’s tail section is slim. 4wd trans has a wide flange for the t case and doesn’t give you the same angle

Hell yeah. I'm glad it will be lighter too, going to try using this motorcycle jack alone. Tried going to Napa again but all the transmission jacks are on the mainland and they're $500+:annoyed:

Aight fellas, got a deadline now. August 19th the truck needs to be moved out of the garage.

Dropping the transmission this weekend I’m estimating it will take me 2 full days. Then I’ll have the week to find a welder for the crossmember - shouldn’t be too bad to communicate the design. I’m going to go with how @Ricardo13x flipped it upside down.

Installation I’m hoping will take another 2 full work days.

    Lets go:sawzall:

These must be trans cooler lines? Just unbolt that after I drain the transmission? 3EAD230E-ED72-4B4D-9054-AC28AF2BC71C.jpg

Yes so the blue nut loosens the connector so it can rotate, you’ll want to loosen it before taking out the lines. The red nut allows the tubes to slide out of the connectors. If I remember correctly, you can completely screw off the red nut and you may be able to pull out the lines by rotating the connector. If there not enough slack, it will come out when you drop the trans, just remember to check on it while you’re lowering the trans. There’s not a lot of fluid that comes out but there is someupload_2021-8-6_20-24-34.jpg

Hell yeah! Don’t forget to loose the bolt that secures the line bracket by the bell housing for you to be able to move the lines to the right and slide the transmission out. Let me know if you need extra pictures with measurements for ease of reference when it come to the crossmember.

Any other tips for rotating the flexplate? The only tools I have that probably wouldn’t damage it are plastic trim removal tools.. but those don’t seem to be much help. I have the tire off for a better view at least.

Taking a break before I go ape on it and break shit haha

Sorry I couldn’t think of a better way. I just pushed as hard as could with the plastic push button tool. Can you move it at all?
