You got pretty lucky, 195k is alot of miles though to buy a used car with. In my area they are 15k + even with that kind of mileage

Where do you all live though? I can find 2nd gens in or around OKC with about 130k for 12-13-14k pretty easy, they’re all PreRunners though :(. Seems that you can find em pretty cheap in the Midwest. Still think I’m gonna go with a first gen though. They’re definitely more expensive in Colorado. Kinda interesting how different prices are throughout the US.

Prerunners/4x2s would be easy to find in your price range esp in the Midwest...because 4x4 is much more sought after. A 4wd with 130k miles would go for at least a few thousand more I would imagine.

There are no downsides to a 4X4. They cost a bit more initially, but are worth more down the road when the time comes to trade or sell. Even if you have to save up a little longer to afford a 4X4 it's worth it.

I had both - the locker is really fun... drifting is super easy in the dirt but I managed to blow out the bearing so that wasn't so much fun. Now I have the 4x4... i don't regret it at all... go 4x4, it's worth the extra $$$.

The locker pre-runner will get you into trails... just enough to be shit out of luck...

Depending on the price difference, conversion to 4x4 is a super easy bolt on that can be done for less than 2k

Just make sure the frame is good. My 2000 had a ton of life left in motor but frame was rusted toast :(

    Prerunner for maximum for economy.
4x4 for minimum economy but maximum fun

So I'm a Colorado native and grew up driving rwd cars and trucks. If you live in denver and dont ski/snowboard a prerunner is fine. Finding a good one is hard. I fly to Phoenix Saturday to pick up a 06 quadcab prerunner that has 142k. It's still 14k. But better than paying 14k for one with 200k+ on it here in colorado. Plus learning to drive in a rwd in the slick stuff will make you a better driver down the road.
