Prerunner, X-runner, TRD options?

I have been searching for other threads with this info but with no luck. What is the difference between a standard tacoma, a prerunner, an X-runner, and where does the TRD package come into play. I bought my prerunner on looks only, I wanted a black dbl cab and found a used prerunner in my price range. As I read all the threads in taco world, I'm starting to wonder what all the differences are. Can anybody out there break down the differences. thankyou.

 

4x2 Standard Tacoma has a low ride height, 5 lug wheels, etc. can't have TRD packages or a V6 (outside of X-Runner, which is dead now)

PreRunner has the ride height of the 4x4's, but is still 2WD. It can have a 4 cylinder or V6 engine. You can get all TRD packages and even the Limited Package as a "PreRunner" but those require V6.

X-Runner was a low ride height model, but had a special color keyed look to it, beefy tires and alloys and came only as a 6 speed manual with the V6. When it debuted in 2005 it was touted to have been benchmarked against the 350Z in terms of handling.

You can get the SR5 package on anything I believe (of course SR5 stuff is incorporated into the X-Runner, TRD's, and Limited)
