Prerunner

Could someone define what this means please? Is it a trim level like SR5? Is it a model like the Off-Road or Pro Sport? What is it? I've seen a bunch of them lately, mostly with off-road decals like on the bed where I have my pro sport.

 

It's a truck that is 2WD, but the same height as the 4WD. The plain 2wd tacoma is the little 5 lugs you see rolling around. So any 6 lug 2WD is a prerunner.

 

4x2 drivetrain.
4x4 suspension.

 

He got it right. It's a 2wd with the 4wd suspension. They sit up a bit higher than a non-prerunner 4x2

 

So is it a Model of Tacos like a pro sport?

 

Actually,
It is what the desert racers use to run the race course with for practice to get used to the course before the big race. Hence PreRunner.

 

That's where the name comes from I figured that out. But is it a Model, an option, a wet dream?

SR/SR5/TRD OR/TRD Sport/TRD PRO are all trim levels.

 

It's a model. you can get them in all kinds of flavors. SR5, Sport, TRD,

 

I think you guys are being trolled. OP has over 6,000 post on TW and claims he doesn't know what a Prerunner Tacoma is?

All you can do with a Prerunner is leave it parked.

 

Actually if you don't need 4wd, like your hauling ass in dry dirt/sand, the 2wd kicks ass. Prerunners are legit.

 

They have their place in certain parts of the country but have serious limitations in wet and muddy conditions.

 

Not everybody offroads. Even though I have a TRD Off Road Prerunner... I just need enough to get to the trailhead, and it's enough. That rear differential locker and good tires are a big help.

 

You can get pretty far with a rear diff locker, no doubt.
