A moot point. We're not talking about rights of legal citizens.

I'd be pissed. But, that's what I'm talking about. Taken "downtown" to have to prove your an US resident. It's not just having illegals having to prove they are illegals, but it's legals having to prove they are legal.

If there were no jobs for the immigrants to take, they wouldn't come here. If business owners hired ONLY US residents and paid them what they are worth the problem would go away. Instead business oweners pay the illegals shit to increase their profits. I'd be willing to pay more for items that I know are employing Americans.

Small price to pay IMHO. I am willing to put up with it, BUT I won't let it be a problem because I always have my wallet/ID/drivers license on me. Pick your battles. Have your shit with you at all times which you should, or risk being taken "downtown".

Thanks, I know both. Enforcing a non-existent law is abuse. No where I've read or heard that I must carry an ID. So now you want a law to infringe on my freedom to do that?

It seems like you are dead set against not carrying your ID because, well, you don't have to. So if you are given crap about it you have no one to blame but yourself.

Andrew, I agree. Back in 06 when there was a march in Phoenix, I was trying to cross Central. The marchers would not obey the traffic signals, and I couldn't even cross the street. They were flipping me off for no reason as they waved their Mexican flags.

Behavior like this though has been quite the catalyst for residents of Phoenix to say enough is enough and get involved to try to take their state back.

    Yes. Illegal is illegal.

That is a great idea. Trial periods can be a very useful tool for testing new legislation. I think they are screaming for this bill right now.

Border violence is what is heating this current discussion. The 58 year old rancher Robert Krentz was killed recently.

Do you guys remember last summer when Robby Rosas was killed while defending the border? I've been to the exact spot where he was gunned down. It made me very angry and sad at the same time. I understand he was the first patrol agent killed in 10 years. The details of his killers remains a mystery. However, it is clear the the killers fled into Mexico.

My issue with bills like this is that they become almost impossible to enforce effectively, and creates a situation similar to the War on Drugs. The supply and demand is too great, clearly people are willing to do anything to get to this country, the harder and harder you make it for people the more drastic measures they will take to insure their success, which eventually spirals out of control both financially and ethically.

I think we need stricter policy on immigration but I think we need to take an entirely different approach then dissecting the bill of rights, IMO the only way to prevent illegal immigration is to remove the financial incentive... how to go about that, both legally and fiscally responsible is beyond me.

That is the kind of crap that I am talking about. Tucson High had a walk-out the other day marching somewhere. Kids were waving the flag of Mexico around like there was no tomorrow. It would have been different if they had the US flag in the other hand but I didn't see that.

I'm just saying. Personally, I never leave anywhere without my ID, but just becasue I do, doesn't mean everyone does.

Oh, I agree. Hell, I usually can't even walk up the street to check the mail without putting my wallet in my pocket.

Its not our job to worry about everyone else. Take care of you and yours and you'll be squared away. If people want to be devils advocate and not have their ID just for the sake of not having it, then thats on them. They can't complain for being given a hard time by the LEO.

Seems like most everyone agrees that illegal immigration is a problem, and we need to start doing something. Thats atleast a start.
