I was checking my differential fluid and when I removed the fill plug there was pressure in the differential. Does that mean that the breather needs to be replaced?

The stock breather is a one way valve. It will let pressure out but not in. If your axle had heated up during driving and off gassed out of the breather, then cooled down after you stopped, it will have a vacuum inside.

Dont by that crazy expensive ARB breather.... 10 bucks in toyota parts and you can make yourself a breather relocation with a two way breather at the top so there is no pressure buildup in the axle.

    Agreed.

Forgot to link him to a 'how to'. I was thinking more of the reading of 'why' in my ARB link.

Yeah, skip the insanely priced ARB thing. Just search here on TW for "rear diff breather mod" and you'll find parts lists and plenty of instructions and ideas on where to route the breather to. It's like a 15 minute job to install at most.

But the ARB link does give a good overview of "why" you want to do the mod!
