Pressure Washer Recomendations

I’m looking for a decent a pressure washer to use primarily for cleaning my truck, and whatever other tasks around the home I may find a use for. I’m having my truck ceramic coated in a few weeks, and am hoping that I can just pressure wash it for quick cleanings as needed. I honesty know very little about these tools, so just looking for some recommendations based on stated use. I’m not sure what max pressure, nozzle attachments, etc. work best for this application. Thanks for the help.

 

A karcher electric pressure washer 1800 -2000 psi the one with the adjustable end on the gun and wheels. For a car or truck this is way more than enough. You don’t want to have too much pressure like a commercial washer produces. You can do damage.
Also side note when you use it don’t go to close to the paint with the stream and your all good

 

I’m too nervous about pressure washers and car paint. I use a good nozzle and a chemical bros foam cannon.

 

Karcher electric models get a lot of great reviews in the detailing forums I belong to. Sun Joe is also a good choice, but at a low price.

 

To do your truck you really need minimal pressure and one of the smaller electric ones will run a foam gun and spray off dirt just fine. Now for around the house a more powerful gas powered machine will do a much better job.

I have a Ryobi from HD running 2600 PSI and has a basically bullet proof Honda engine motor on it. 2600 PSI is way more than necessary for truck purposes and as a matter of fact used carelessly that power will easily do damage. Just make sure you ONLY use the white tip on your truck if you go that route and keep it reasonably away from the truck when spraying it. The white tip has the widest pattern and spreads the pressure out the most.

 

I don’t have any interest in taking the time to wash it myself by hand. My plan is to pressure wash myself and then run through the touchless wash. Hopefully with the ceramic coating this will be sufficient for my needs. I live on a dirt road so getting it spotless is pointless.

 

Which specific Karcher electric model would you guys recommend? My limited research suggests I want both 25 and 40-degree nozzle options. Also, hoping to keep it under $200.

 

I have the K3 style and it works great. I use it to clean concrete , my deck when I want to re stain , areas on my house , and such. It hooks up to a hose , plug in and good to go. Just again DO NOT bring the stream too close too the paint or the gaps by the wheel flairs. Underbody you can go closer in areas and you’ll be fine. Also it’s fairly quiet and very convenient. I use it all the time for lots of stuff

Love mine, use it with a foam cannon and Chemical Guys foaming wash. Also more than adequate for my deck, walkways, etc.

 

I have the first one but either is good
The one I have tucks away for me when I put away. I love it.
Also one more major note with any pressure washer ALWAYS connect the water and make sure water is going in BEFORE you turn it on. Same for turning off
Turn power off then shut water. If you do that all the time it will last for a very long time .

 

How do you set the spray angle with this one? I can’t tell from the description. Thanks.

 

Spray angle is adjusted by the tip you put on the end of the gun

With a gas washer you have to keep spraying or it will over heat. And sometimes if it doesn't catch on the first pull it can be a pita to get running. An electric washer shuts off when you don't need it which is SUPER handy. Having had both gas and electric sprayers I'll never do gas again. The linked sprayer is more than enough to do anything I'll ever do around the house. I think most sprayers come with different tips and that is something you will want. The one downside on my sprayer is the big chonkin GFCI plug at the end doesn't play nice with my weatherproof outside plugs. I just plug it into an extension cord and all is good.

 

I understand, but does it come with those tips (several for different angles) or do you have to buy them separately?

The Sun Joe model linked above shows it coming with several different tips to control the angle. I don’t see that with the Karcher. Just trying to understand.

 

Karcher is a known brand and has good stuff but what ever your comfortable with .I personally never needed anything more and I use it all the time

Have owned it for 4+ years now. Solid.

 

You don't really need much for washing your truck. I would say that 2000psi is way overkill and can ruin bearings if sprayed directly.

I used to own a Ryobi one that I think was $80 new. It had more than enough power to wash a car. I had it for a couple years and sold it when I moved.

I've had mixed experiences with Ryobi. I have a sawzall that has lasted me a long time so far but many other things break too quickly. DeWalt makes a small electric one that runs about $250.

 

I have a Greenworks 2800psi. Zero issues after 5 years. Runs a foam cannon great. Just use the 40 degree tip and you’re fine. I always use a foam cannon and hand wash, just use the pressure washer for initial wetting and rinsing. Also get a 50ft hose you’ll be glad you did.
