2008 that I bought new . Always washed underneath and cleaned and painted . Been applying rust prevention for the last 6 years . Nothing stops rust  this is now going to cost $3400 to replace rocker panels . Some of the cost is due to removing and rewelding the sliders back on the frame . Other than this crap my truck is like new . New frame in 2018 ,new suspension in 2017 . Only 138000 miles .

I have a 2018. Frame looks just like yours. I brushed the spots with a wire brush. Touched up with Tremclad. I bought a gallon of Fluid Film on sale for about $65 instead of $99 at Princess Auto and a $30 spray gun from them and it made applying it easy! The gallon will last me probably 3 or 4 applications.

You are one of the lucky ones to get a frame replacement. My 2008 Taco was so rotten underneath that I traded it on a 2014 Venza. 1 years later got a letter from Toyota telling me to bring my truck in for frame inspection can you believe that it really pissed me off cause I loved my Blue Taco.

After a good wire brush job on the rust, apply some rustoleum rust inhibitor over it. After it drys, shoot it with cosmoline. I recently did the same on the underneath of my snowmobile trailer after seeing the axle assembly beginning to develop some heavy surface rust. End result its looks nearly new again with a good waxy coating to prevent any further rust.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!

    Is this your gun?

I'm a bit skeptical as the 5-star reviews are only 50%.

Anyone know for certain this would work with a 6-gal pancake compressor with 2.6 CFM @90 PSI? I'd be using Fluid Film and figure on heating it up first.

I was also looking at this kit for a bit more money:

I bought the woolwax kit and it worked great with my pancake compressor. You have to fine tune the tube extenders, but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy. Word of caution, be mindful to keep the gun mostly vertical. If you go too far to the side the pressure builds and will blow the product out of the top of the gun via the vent hold. It will blow a huge load all over the bottom of the truck then subsequently coat your face. Don’t ask me how I know.

What do you mean by "fine tune" the extenders? Play around with the pressure? I see that @bob1008 (www.kellsportproducts.com) recommends having a regulator right at the gun for easy adjustment.

 I shouldn't laugh. I could easily see myself doing that, and I thank you for the warning.

I have the Woolwax pro gun and it works well. But I also have nothing else to compare it too... I used a 30 gallon compressor and it didn't kick on too often. Can probably get away with the smaller one; it'll just run more often.

Also, go right to the woolwax site if you decide to go that route. They're a sponsor here and if you use the code Tacoma you get 10% off, no tax and free shipping.

This is the best pic I could find quickly. That screw adjuster has a bigger impact on how much comes out of the gun than the pressure itself. I know this because I was cranking the psi way up and still not getting much out of the gun. Then I started adjusting that connection and it really opens it up to what you want. If you screw the extender all the way in, it almost cuts the flow off completely. You’ll know and I mean as you mess with it.

    Got it. Thanks!

Just placed an order for the gun on the Kellsport site. Discount code (Tacoma) worked spiffily.

I have also experienced the sprayer blowing its load by not paying attention and allowing the sprayer to turn upside down. It does make a mess.

Another note of wisdom with the woolwax kit hoses: get small hose clamps (approx. 1/4" to 3/8" dia.) to hold plastic hose to the brass fitting. While the hose will be tight on the fitting initially, with time it will get loose and want to come of.
