Maybe others have examples of previous owner repairs that leave a lot to be desired. Thought I'd start a thread with one I discovered today.

I bought a 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ in 2007. It only had 7000 miles (today 16,000 miles) on it. I thought, must be mint because it was owned by an older man whose wife made him get rid of it because he wouldn't drive it in the rain.

Well, only a few days after I bought it, CE light. Evap code. Ran great, so I have ignored it until now thinking vacuum leak. Preparing to sell the Jeep, thought I should find/fix.

Based on attached part tags I found while investigating, apparently, he had damaged the fuel tank and shield. Probably mall crawling over parking stop. The replacement crew left me a surprise behind the fender liner:

They broke the clip holding a feed from the tank into the charcoal canister, wait for it..., and decided masking take would probably be okay to hold it. This pic is after I peeled away most of the tape.

Sure, masking tape seems like a good idea. Must have been out of duct tape
